Strategic Partner Manager, YouTube Shopping

Job Description

This role involves driving business objectives and strategy for creators and companies to encourage YouTube Shopping content creation across various verticals (Music, Gaming, Sports, TV/Film). Collaborating with Product and Program Management, the Strategic Partner Manager will leverage consumer product acumen and go-to-market experience to grow YouTube Shopping. Responsibilities include collaborating on product roadmaps, establishing lighthouse cases, driving adoption in the Japanese market (focusing on GMV and earnings), and developing blueprints/playbooks to enable brands and creators to utilize shopping features. Fluency in English and Japanese is essential for interacting with clients and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills, and thrive in a dynamic environment.
Must have:
  • 7+ years partner management experience
  • Fluency in English and Japanese
  • Experience in entertainment/digital media
  • Drive YouTube Shopping adoption in Japan
  • Collaborate on product roadmap
  • Establish lighthouse cases and case studies
Good to have:
  • Retail, media, or distribution experience
  • Ability to manage escalations
  • Cross-functional communication skills

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience with partner/account management or partner facing experience in the entertainment, digital, or media industry.
  • Ability to communicate in English and Japanese fluently to interact with local clients and stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in retail, media, or distribution.
  • Ability to field and prioritize incoming requests, manage escalations and bring issues to resolution.
  • Ability to influence and communicate cross-functionally and externally.
  • Ability to thrive in a changing, fluid, and collaborative environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, consultation, and presentation skills.

About the job

In this role, you will be responsible for driving the business objectives and strategy for creators and companies to encourage the creation of shop content on YouTube shopping across Music, Gaming, Sports, TV/Film, and more. In partnership with Product Management and Program Management, you will use consumer product acumen or go-to-market experience to transform and grow shopping on YouTube across verticals.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on the product roadmap, brand and user journeys, and advocate for their vertical's needs in shopping.
  • Establish lighthouse cases and case studies across key verticals of music, gaming, sports, and TV/film.
  • Help get the flywheel spinning across brands, creators, and across verticals and develop blueprints and playbooks to enable them to continue leveraging shopping features.
  • Drive adoption of YouTube shopping in Japan market with ownership of critical Business metrics (e.g., Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) and Earning channels).
