Role Overview:
As a Senior Game Developer specializing in Unreal Engine 5, you will leverage your extensive experience with behaviour trees and multiplayer game development to enhance our gaming projects. You will be instrumental in developing 3rd person gameplay, focusing on procedural generation of environments and the autonomous life cycles of in-game fauna. This role requires a deep understanding of C++ and Blueprints, where your expertise will directly influence the success and innovative features of our games.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement robust game mechanics using Unreal Engine, with a particular focus on behavior trees and multiplayer setups.
- Develop procedural generation systems for dynamic environments, including foliage placement and environmental factors, ensuring a unique player experience for each game session.
- Contribute to the creation of a sandbox mode and the conceptualization of an "endless world" game design.
- Tackle challenges related to voxel-based destruction, marching cubes, and scalability issues in multiplayer environments, potentially supporting thousands of concurrent players.
- Engage in problem-solving activities, diving deep into why and how systems operate, and crafting innovative solutions to enhance gameplay and performance.
Ideal Candidate:
- Proven experience with Unreal Engine 4, more importantly UE5 is essential.
- 5 years of expertise in C++, Blueprints, and behavior trees.
- A strong background in designing and implementing online multiplayer game mechanics.
- Creative problem solver, passionate about identifying and resolving complex challenges.
- Inquisitive mindset, with a strong desire to understand and improve underlying systems and processes.
- Commitment to personal and project success over the long term, aiming to constantly learn and evolve as needed.
Nice to Have:
- Proficiency with Steamworks API
- Experience with Daz Studios, metahumans, or equivalent technologies
- Experience with OpenAI
- Ability to debug and optimize at both low and high levels
- Experience in profiling and optimizing both CPU and GPU utilization
