Company Description

Annual Salary: $70,000 - $80,000

Are you obsessed with golf—living, breathing, and eating every swing, putt, and story the sport has to offer?

We’re searching for a true golf aficionado with proven reporting experience and deep industry connections to join our US Sports Desk in a brand new, high-profile role as a Golf Reporter. This is your chance to showcase your passion and expertise, break exclusive stories, and become the definitive voice for golf fans everywhere. If you have a track record of delivering original content at speed, building valuable relationships, and driving readers to top golf news platforms, we want you on our team. Take your love for the game to the next level and make your mark where it matters most!

So, who are we?

Reach Plc is the UK’s largest commercial news publisher. We’re home to more than 130 trusted brands, from national titles like the Mirror, Express, Daily Record and Daily Star, to local brands like MyLondon, BelfastLive and the Manchester Evening News.

Since the start of 2023, we have been building out our US operation, headquartered at 200 Liberty St. We’ve launched three standalone brands in the Mirror US, Express US and the Irish Star, covering news, sport, entertainment, politics and lifestyle - all targeted at US audiences.

We are looking to add ambitious and dynamic talent to our teams, so if you enjoy a rapid pace, a lively newsroom, a flat structure and the opportunity to work in a scale-up environment backed by the resources of a large organization, Reach Plc could be perfect for you!

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will produce multiple high-quality stories each shift—typically 6-8 per day—ranging from quick news snaps and quote stories to longer, creative features and exclusives. You’ll drive readers to our websites and increase engagement time by delivering compelling content tailored for different platforms and audiences. With a semiautonomous approach, you’ll bring your own ideas to the table and play a key role in shaping our golf content strategy and forward planning.

You must be willing to attend golf events across the country—and potentially overseas—so a valid passport is essential. Using data analytics, you’ll refine your content and headline choices, analyzing past successes and audience insights to meet ambitious targets. Comfort with being on camera and producing multimedia packages is important, as video will play a big role in our content as we grow our audiences further.

Shift Patterns & Working Location

This is an office based role working from our New York hub, we are therefore open to candidates based in or commutable to New York.

Shifts are done on a rolling rota basis, and can range anywhere from 10:00am ET - 12:00am ET. Any shifts ending after 9:00pm ET will have the flexibility to be completed remotely.

A level of flexibility is required in this role, as shifts are open to last minute changes as a result of live sporting events. Weekend shifts will also be required when needed.

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who is truly obsessed with golf and never misses a breaking news story. You’ll have a sharp eye for compelling stories, produce clickable headlines, and quickly recognize what works—adapting your approach to maximize impact. A passion for building the biggest possible audience for your work is essential.

You should be confident in approaching talent and asking tough questions, able to thrive under pressure, and extremely proficient in SEO. Experience working with tabloid-style journalism is important. Candidates must have journalism qualifications and experience delivering sports content, ideally for national outlets but not essential.
