Job Description

The Asset Manager at Netflix will be responsible for managing the lifecycle of marketing assets, from creation and production to distribution and storage. This role requires collaboration with internal and external partners, including vendors, agencies, and cross-functional departments. Key responsibilities include auditing DAM systems, maintaining relationships with vendors, conducting quarterly reviews, ensuring compliance with best practices, educating users on asset management, developing archival workflows, managing asset access, and identifying areas for workflow improvement. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in digital or media asset management within the entertainment industry, strong knowledge of file specs and formats, and experience with various DAM and MAM systems.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Asset Manager to join our UCAN Asset Management team based in Los Angeles. Constantly raising the bar on efficiency, quality, and scale of digital asset and media asset management, the Asset Management team within UCAN Marketing Operations & Productions contributes to all aspects of the promotional digital asset lifecycle from Creative Development, Asset Production, and Distribution, to Storage & Retrieval. 

The Role
Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Asset Management the Asset Manager is both collaborative and innovative in our work to improve the life cycle of a marketing assets. The ideal candidate excels at prioritizing tasks and assets, thinks outside the box when implementing efficient and effective workflows and systems, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. You are extremely curious, detail-oriented, and technically knowledgeable across asset types, systems, and technologies.

Key Responsibilities
Execute Asset Management Programs

  • Audit DAM systems in key areas as determined in partnership with the Sr. Manager, Asset Management. These may include the adoption of our promotional assets taxonomy, metadata accuracy,  rights management audits,  accurate asset permissions, and performance of our internal DAM systems. 

  • Maintain day-to-day relationships with external vendor partners 

  • Escalate issues with vendor partners or workflows that could be detrimental to the business

  • Conduct quarterly reviews of external vendor partners to ensure key business metrics are met

  • Contribute to governance, research, guidance, and enforcement of our digital asset management best practices

  • Educate internal and external DAM users on best practices and taxonomy, and advocate for the proper tagging and use of our systems.

  • Develop, implement and manage archival workflows across marketing assets


Source and Distribute Media and Assets

  • Serve as liaison between post-production, external partners, external agencies, and cross-functional departments to source, manage, and distribute title content for MarComms use

  • Act as asset librarians and curators when necessary on high-security titles working closely with internal and external partners to obtain files, maintain organization, and keep assets up-to-date

  • Manage and grant access to materials in internal tooling systems

  • Ensure asset deliverables meet the required specs and timelines


Workflow Improvements

  • Regularly assess assets and workflows and identify areas of improvement in partnership with key stakeholders across MarComms and Product Creative Studio as they pertain to promotional assets

  • Identify areas of opportunity to automate, delegate, or eliminate touch points in the life cycle of our digital assets

  • Identify, support and streamline critical areas of the business that should remain internally managed by Asset Management, and areas of the business that can be outsourced for scale

  • Identify ways to use technology to improve the way we work

  • Highlight gaps in processes and/or tasks that can be optimized to improve our delivery metrics

Experience and Skills

  • 5+ years of digital asset and/or media asset management experience in entertainment, studio, or agency 

  • Proven experience fulfilling and managing large sets of assets in complex asset management environments

  • Strong knowledge of digital file specs and formats across AV, Digital, and Print Production

  • Understanding of industry standard systems: LucidLink, DAM’s, MAM’s 

  • Working knowledge of Google Workspace, Airtable, and Tableau are a plus

  • Pragmatic, organized, and detail-oriented, you have a big capacity to both think and ‘do’ 

  • Flourish in a hands-on role adding value at different levels

  • Demonstrated ability to think innovatively - connecting the dots when others may not 

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders, prioritizing tasks and escalating issues as needed

  • Desire to redefine Asset Management as an industry and practice

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $170,000 - $245,000. Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs.  Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
