Job Description

The Associate Consultant will support the higher education performance consulting practice. This role involves preparing deliverables, conducting analyses, and ensuring smooth execution of client projects. The candidate will work closely with consultants to prepare high-quality materials that contribute to strategic insights and client solutions. Responsibilities include project support, data analysis, research, collaboration, quality control, and administrative support. The role offers an opportunity to develop a foundational understanding of the consulting process. QS is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented individual to contribute to the international higher education landscape.
Must have:
  • Strong attention to detail and high standards of quality
  • Excellent organizational skills for managing multiple tasks
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint and Excel
  • A proactive attitude with a strong desire to learn and grow
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team
Good to have:
  • Prior Management Consulting or a Higher Education Background
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau
  • Experience in higher education or familiarity with the sector

This position offers a hybrid work model, allowing flexibility between working from home and our office.

 

Typically, employees are expected to work 2 days in the office per week.

As a Associate Consultant, this is what you’ll be doing:

QS is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Associate to support its fast-growing higher education performance consulting practice.

 

This role involves assisting the consulting team in preparing deliverables, conducting analyses, and ensuring the smooth execution of client projects. The successful candidate will work closely with consultants to help prepare high-quality materials that contribute to strategic insights and client solutions.

 

This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop a foundational understanding of the consulting process, with growth potential for increased responsibility over time.

 

Role responsibilities

  • Project Support: Assist in the preparation of materials and deliverables for consulting projects, including drafting documents, preparing presentations, and organising relevant data.
  • Data Analysis: Conduct data collection, processing, and basic analysis to support project insights using tools such as Excel, Tableau, or R.
  • Research: Undertake desk research on higher education trends, competitors, and institutions to inform consulting projects.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with team members to ensure all project tasks are completed on time and aligned with the team's objectives.
  • Quality Control: Assist in reviewing project deliverables to ensure high standards of quality and accuracy.
  • Administrative Support: Provide support in project organisation, such as scheduling meetings, maintaining project timelines, and managing project documentation.
  • Any other duties that fall within the scope and purpose of the role.

 

Key skills and experience

  • Prior Management Consulting or a Higher Education Background is preferred. 
  • Strong attention to detail with a dedication to maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint and Excel; experience with data visualisation tools such as Tableau is an advantage.
  • A proactive attitude with a strong desire to learn and grow within a consulting environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in higher education or familiarity with the sector is beneficial but not essential.
  • The ability to work independently with guidance and collaborate effectively in a team setting.
