Hulu’s Consumer and Market Insights team seeks a Brand Insights Manager who will be an exceptional addition to our Insights and Analytics team. As a Brand Insights Manager at Hulu, you will support its primary research initiatives around the Hulu brand, the product, and the audience. This role will focus on working with the Brand Insights team to design research, interpret data, translate it into actionable ideas, and create stunning PowerPoint/Google Slide reports supporting the company’s Marketing, Product, Partnership, and Distribution teams.  The right person for this role is passionate about storytelling with consumer data and making an impact with insights while comfortable juggling multiple complex projects simultaneously.

What You Will Do

  • Develop actionable insights and strategies to address critical business objectives by synthesizing relevant data sources (primary, secondary, or first party) to tell a clear and holistic story.
  • Much of Hulu’s primary research is conducted in-house. Candidates should be comfortable writing questionnaires, working with various internal databases, analyzing raw data, creating reports from scratch, and presenting and sharing those results with multiple stakeholders.
  • Work with the Insights and Analytical team and critical Marketing, Partnership, Product, and Distribution stakeholders to frame research objectives/plan.
  • Coordinate with research partners (both internal and external), ensuring processes are running smoothly.
  • Synthesize primary and secondary data from multiple sources (i.e., Nielsen, MRI, SNL Kagan) to tell a holistic story.  Identify and translate market trends and customer insights into actionable ideas and strategies.
  • Collaborate across Hulu and Disney+ Insights teams.
  • Thinks strategically in identifying research needs to support business goals across different business units
  • Strong collaborator who can effectively influence a diverse set of stakeholders
  • Stay abreast of television, OTT, and research industry news, trends, and best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • BA/BS in social sciences, marketing science, applied research, or related field
  • 4+ years of research experience, preferably in the entertainment/tech industry or at a market research supplier focused on the Entertainment/Technology vertical
  • Strong PowerPoint/Excel and Google Sheets/slides skills, analytical tools (SPSS), as well as survey tools (Qualtrics/Survey Gizmo)
  • Experience with SPSS or other analytical tools such as R/SAS/SQL
  • Proven experience with various secondary/syndicated research tools (Nielsen, MRI, and SNL Kagan)
  • Passion for understanding consumer needs and attitudes and translating them into business strategies, particularly in the technology, media, and/or entertainment sectors.
  • Subject matter expertise in understanding consumer behavior in a subscription business
  • Deep understanding of a variety of market research methodologies and their applications to achieve actionable insights and KPI impact
  • In-depth knowledge of Brand Tracking, Brand Positioning, and Brand Strategy
  • Excellent data analysis skills and detail orientation, particularly with large quantitative or qualitative data sets
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and data visualization skills
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple projects
  • Proactive, adaptive, collaborative, and inclusive team player

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience at a Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) streaming service or a research company working with a DTC streaming service.
  • Advanced statistics capabilities

The hiring range for this position in Santa Monica, CA is $91,900.00 to $126,200.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
