Job Description
As a Cloud Engineer, you will work collaboratively with Development teams to help deploy and operate their applications on the AWS/Azure cloud platform. Help automate and streamline our operations and processes. Build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring and operations, and troubleshoot and resolve issues in our non-prod and production environments.
You will be responsible for developing tools that ensure availability, automation, performance, efficiency, scaling, monitoring, and emergency response of the various cloud implementation work undertaken by TR teams. You will use your deep understanding of system availability, architecture, people, systems, and processes to continuously improve uptime, performance, deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
About The Role
In this opportunity as Cloud Engineer, you will:
- Active member of a team of cloud engineers who will be responsible on provisioning public Cloud Native platform infrastructure in AWS or Azure.
- Partner with businesses and application teams to accelerate Cloud migration and define cloud deployment strategies, based on application and business requirements.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as a Code (IaC) scripts to deploy cloud resources through pipelines and automate application installs.
- Create, operationalize, and provide associated runbooks and documentations for cloud patterns services to be used by varies products for a self-serve model
- Work closely with the Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE), and cloud architectures to adopt strategies and ensuring common TR Technology standard across all cloud implementations.
- Educate and provide guidance to internal teams of experts to build effective Cloud Native solution.
- Continually evolve deployment methods and processes to effectively deliver products across all environments.
- Keep up to date with emerging cloud technology trends – open source and cloud vendors such as AWS, Azure, and GCP
- Collaborate deeply with multiple levels of technical staff across various geographical locations in a dynamic agile team environment.
- Being the Cloud Native advocate to challenge status quo and ensure leveraging the full capabilities of the Cloud Platform
- Makes suggestions for problem solutions or software enhancements, which will typically be reviewed by a more senior developer.
- Ensure that all cloud solutions follow internally defined security and compliance standards and controls
- Participates in project planning sessions with team members to analyze development requirements, provide design options, and provide work breakdown and estimates of work.
- Participate in the resolution of various technical challenges and ensure the implementation of recommended solutions meet stakeholder expectations.
- Deliver timely updates on team responsibilities within projects to management.
- Monitor project progress and maintain regular status updates using Microsoft Azure DevOps using Agile methodology
- Responds to non-standard requests from customers; investigates with assistance from others as needed
- Explains difficult issues and obtains agreement as needed
About You
You're a fit for the role of Cloud Engineer if your background includes:
- Minimum 3 years of cloud experience, preferably in AWS or Azure.
- Bachelor of Computer Science or equivalent with minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in cloud engineering.
- Possess one or more certifications: (AWS/Azure Certification at the associate level or higher)
- Possess deep and broad knowledge and experience in general IT and public cloud, including Networking, Infrastructure, Security, Storage, Operating Systems (Linux/Windows).
- Experience with cloud infrastructure as code tooling.
- Proficiency in server OS, including Windows and/or Linux.
- Strong skills in Python and PowerShell/Bash scripting.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and bridge gaps between technical and non-technical team members.
- Familiarity with high availability and disaster recovery solutions, architecture, and tools.
- Embody a cloud-first mindset, demonstrating a deep understanding of cloud computing best practices, including architecture, scalability, efficiency, and reliability.
- Willingness to develop an understanding of Thomson Reuters products, architecture, and associated costs.
- Experience in creating, reviewing, and maintaining technical documentation for diverse technical audiences to ensure supportability and reusability.
- Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize and meet deadlines.
