Responsibilities

• Contribute to data pipeline optimizations, enhancing efficiency and performance.
• Create, complete, and enhance data dictionaries.
• Develop scalable load-balancing solutions for traffic, and optimize network performance.

Key Competencies

• Problem-Solving Ability: Demonstrated capacity to decompose intricate technical challenges into actionable steps and propose efficient solutions.
• Programming Aptitude: Proficient coding and debugging skills in Java, Python and/or SQL emphasizing clean, efficient, and modular code development. Passionate about writing scalable and efficient code, prefers to automate tasks when possible, and enjoys working on side projects outside of work/school.
• Database Structures: Ability to understand, design, and optimize database structures, ensuring data integrity and efficiency.
• System Design Thinking: The aptitude to conceptualize and design distributed, event-driven, and highly scalable backend systems, focusing on performance and resilience.
• Team Collaboration: Ability to communicate effectively in a technical team setting, understanding and respecting code review feedback, and participating actively in design discussions.

Experience

• Prior involvement, either through academic or side projects, using Java or Python to develop data pipelines, data cleansing or data manipulation systems.
• Historical engagement with or academic courses on MySQL, DynamoDB, or similar database systems showcasing data modeling, CRUD operations, or optimization tasks.
• Demonstrated history of working in team settings, ideally with active participation in version control systems like Git and agile development methodologies.
• Experience with designing, deploying, or maintaining scalable applications, preferably in cloud environments like AWS, Azure, or GCP. Experience with Kubernetes and containerized applications is a plus.
• GPA of 3.9 or 4.0 required.

We are offering a Co-Op program for current graduate and undergraduate students who are set to graduate within one year of starting the program. The program is scheduled to begin in May and June 2025 and will run through December 2025. Please note that this position requires relocation to Las Vegas for the duration of the program. The role will be in-office, 5 days a week, with a commitment of 40 hours per week. Flexibility will be provided to accommodate any school courses during the program.

Starting Compensation: $28 per hour

Location: Las Vegas HQ - Onsite for 5 days per week
