Job Description

The Engineering Manager, Infrastructure and Operations will lead and mentor a team of software engineers in the ChromeOS Release & Device Lifecycle Efficiency team. Responsibilities include managing project execution from design to deployment, collaborating with stakeholders to define product roadmaps, and advocating engineering best practices. The role requires experience in building tools to improve developer velocity, code quality, and code health, along with people management and experience in a matrixed organization. The team works on enabling internal and partner workflows for scalable and efficient ChromeOS hardware and software shipping.
Good To Have:
  • Master's degree in Engineering or related field
  • 8+ years experience with data structures/algorithms
  • 3+ years technical leadership experience
  • 3+ years experience in cross-functional projects

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience building tools that improve developer velocity, code quality and code health (e.g., compilers, automated releases, code design and testing, test automation frameworks).
  • 3 years of experience in people management.
  • 1 year of experience working in a matrixed organization.
  • 1 year of experience with Cloud Computing or in a Linux development environment.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 8 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • 3 years of experience working in an organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.

We are responsible for the build, test, and release infrastructure of ChromeOS. This includes improving ChromeOS developer productivity, raising the product quality bar, improving device lifecycle efficiency, ensuring that the testing infrastructure is reliable and scalable. As part of EIO the ChromeOS Release & Device Lifecycle Efficiency team works on enabling the internal and partner workflows needed to ship ChromeOS hardware and software scalably and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Build, lead and mentor a team of software engineers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and career development opportunities.
  • Manage the execution of projects from design to deployment, ensuring high-quality deliverables and timely completion.
  • Collaborate closely with product and program managers, product engineers, and other stakeholders to define product roadmaps and technical specifications.
  • Advocate engineering best practices for code quality, testing, and documentation.
