This role supports high-speed automated process equipment operating on a 24/7 schedule, manufacturing millions of medical devices annually. Duties include performing advanced preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting complex mechanical, electrical, and automated systems, contributing to root-cause analysis, mentoring entry-level technicians, participating in continuous improvement projects, and ensuring compliance with FDA, GMP, and ISO standards. The role also involves utilizing computerized maintenance management systems and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Must have:
  • High School Diploma or GED with 4 years of electro-mechanical maintenance experience OR Associate's Degree with 2 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in electro-mechanical, high-speed manufacturing maintenance
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical and electrical systems
  • Basic Computer Skills (Email, Windows, Microsoft Office - Word & Excel)
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills (written & verbal)
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Adheres to safety policies and personal protective equipment requirements
Good to have:
  • Experience working in a cGMP/Regulated environment
  • Able to read ladder logic and troubleshoot/repair PLCs
  • Proficiency in machining, welding, and fabricating
  • GMP experience (change control, validation, commissioning)
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors and willingness to drive improvement

Position Summary:
The Maintenance Technician 3 is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of manufacturing equipment at our facility. This role requires a higher level of technical expertise and autonomy compared to a lower level maintenance technician, with a focus on complex troubleshooting, repairs, continuous improvement, and mentoring.  This role is in direct support of high speed automated process equipment operating on a 24/7 2-2-3 schedule.  There are a minimum of 100 million medical devices manufactured annually and +/- 400,000 devices manufactured per business day.
 
Primary Duties:
  1. Perform advanced preventive and corrective maintenance on sophisticated manufacturing equipment
  2. Troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and automated systems independently
  3. Contribute to root-cause analysis efforts to prevent recurring equipment issues
  4. Mentor and provide technical guidance to entry-level technicians
  5. Participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency
  6. Ensure all maintenance activities comply with FDA regulations, GMP, ISO standards, and safety protocols
  7. Utilize and maintain accurate records in computerized maintenance management systems
  8. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize equipment performance and minimize downtime
 
Education and Experience:
  1. High School Diploma or GED and a minimum 4 years of experience in electro-mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing of electro-mechanical systems OR Associate’s Degree and 2 years of experience in electro-mechanical, high-speed manufacturing maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical systems.
  2. Experience working in a cGMP/Regulated environment desired.
  3. Able to read ladder logic and troubleshoot/repair PLC’s, electrical systems, AC/DC drive systems, and mechanical systems desired.
  4. Proficiency in machining, welding, and fabricating a plus.
  5. Basic Computer Skills required; must be experienced and proficient in the use of:
    1. Email
    2. Windows Operating Systems
    3. Basic Microsoft Office tools (specifically Word & Excel)
       6. Excellent documentation and communication skills (written & verbal).
       7. Strong attention to detail and GMP experience (including knowledge of change control, validation, and commissioning processes) desired.
       8.  Ability to work successfully autonomously as an active contributor on a team/shift.
      10. Demonstrate leadership behaviors and skills and a willingness to work towards driving improvement within and external to the department as a Maintenance team representative.

  4. Adheres to documentation requirements in a cGMP compliant manner in accordance with applicable Quality Policies.
  5. Follows all site Safety Policies/OSHA policies including requirements as related to personal protection equipment as needed to perform routine and non-routine duties.
  6. Leads both continuous improvement and infrastructure improvement efforts with the goal to implement a sustainable, reliability-based maintenance program
  7. Works effectively as part of a team in addition to autonomously as required.
  8. Competent in the use of computers and Microsoft Office tools (Word & Excel).
  9. Communicates effectively within the team in both a verbal and written manner.
  10. Collaborates with other site departments to achieve common goals. Possesses a high-level understanding of equipment, processes, and products.
