Job Description
This role involves providing reliability engineering support for YouTube's OTT streaming platform, automating manual processes, and developing a tooling strategy. You'll collaborate with software engineering teams to build and deploy software for ingesting, processing, monitoring, and distributing media content and metadata. Partnering with content companies and vendors to ingest premium live content is crucial. The position also includes developing new metrics and expanding existing ones to benchmark stream quality and reliability. Experience in video streaming systems design and support, or technical product management within a streaming platform environment, is essential. The role requires expertise in architecture, integration, and broadcast or streaming infrastructure build-outs.
Must have:
- 5+ years experience in technical video systems
- Experience in troubleshooting and code writing
- Support YouTube's OTT streaming platform
- Partner with engineering teams for software deployment
- Develop and expand stream quality metrics
Good to have:
- 3+ years experience in troubleshooting and partner management
- 2+ years experience in solutions engineering/architecture
- 2+ years experience with streaming services or broadcast media
- Experience with video streaming backend platforms (CDN, ABR)

Job Details
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience in a technical video system in a technical environment.
- 1 year of experience in technical troubleshooting, writing code or technical project management.
Preferred qualifications:
- 3 years of experience in technical troubleshooting, and managing internal/external partners or customers.
- 2 years of experience in solutions engineering, solutions architecture or software architecture.
- 2 years of experience with streaming service or in broadcast media digital distribution.
- Experience with video streaming back-end platforms such as video transport, video processing, Content Delivery Network (CDN) or client Adaptive Bitrate Streaming (ABR) playback.

In this role you will work cross-functionally across YouTube with various technical and business teams. You will be supporting all aspects of over-the-top (OTT) focused on content ingestion and processing, with the goal of building the next iteration of YouTube OTT's ingestion infrastructure. You will have experience in video streaming systems design and support or technical product management within a streaming platform environment. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Provide reliability engineering support of YouTube's OTT streaming platform, automate manual processes and assist in developing a tooling strategy.
- Partner with software engineering teams to build and deploy software used to ingest, process, monitor and distribute media content and metadata.
- Partner with content companies, third-party aggregators and software vendors to ingest premium live content to YouTube.
- Develop new metrics and expand upon existing metrics used to benchmark stream quality and reliability.
