The PC Compatibility Lead at 2K Games is responsible for ensuring exceptional performance and stability across diverse PC hardware configurations. This involves creating and implementing comprehensive test plans, collaborating with developers and QA teams, identifying and resolving compatibility issues, and conducting performance analysis. The role requires deep expertise in PC hardware, operating systems, driver ecosystems, and QA methodologies. Responsibilities include test case creation, defect management, driver support, automated testing implementation, and reporting. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical and communication skills and a passion for PC gaming.
Must have:
  • 4+ years QA/testing experience in video game industry (PC focus)
  • Deep understanding of PC hardware, OS, and drivers
  • Proficiency in test planning, execution, and defect management
  • Experience with performance analysis tools
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Good to have:
  • Automated testing experience (Python)
  • QA certifications (ISTQB)
  • Game development or scripting experience (C#, Python)

PC Compatibility Lead (Sports)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate PC Compatibility Lead to join our dynamic PC Compatibility Lab. As the PC Compatibility Lead, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our games deliver exceptional performance and stability across a diverse range of PC hardware configurations. You will be responsible for creating and implementing comprehensive test plans and checklists, collaborating closely with functional test teams and developers to identify, analyze, and resolve compatibility issues throughout the game development lifecycle. Your deep understanding of PC hardware, driver ecosystems, QA methodologies, and testing tools will be essential in guaranteeing a smooth and optimized gaming experience for our PC player base. 

What You’ll Do:

  • PC Compatibility Expertise: Maintain a deep understanding of PC hardware components (CPUs, GPUs, RAM, storage), operating systems, driver ecosystems, and common PC configurations used by gamers.
  • Test Planning and Execution:
    • Develop and maintain comprehensive test plans and checklists specifically for PC compatibility, outlining testing scope, methodologies, and success criteria.
    • Collaborate with functional test teams to integrate PC compatibility testing into their test plans, ensuring adequate coverage and alignment with overall testing goals.
    • Complete test plans and checklists, meticulously documenting test results and identifying any compatibility issues.
  • Test Case Creation: Create detailed test cases and test scripts for various PC configurations, focusing on performance, stability, driver compatibility, and graphical fidelity.
  • Defect Management: Analyze and prioritize defects using established bug tracking systems, providing clear and concise bug reports with detailed reproduction steps and relevant system information. Collaborate with development teams to ensure timely resolution of compatibility issues.
  • Performance Analysis: Apply performance supervising tools and techniques to analyze game performance on different PC configurations, identify bottlenecks, and collaborate with developers to optimize game performance.
  • Driver Support: Stay informed about the latest driver updates from hardware manufacturers (NVIDIA, AMD, Intel) and assess their impact on game compatibility and performance. Collaborate with developers to address any driver-related issues.
  • Automated Testing: Research, evaluate, and implement automated testing solutions for PC compatibility, including hardware monitoring, performance benchmarking, and driver compatibility testing. Develop and maintain scripts for automating routine testing tasks.
  • Reporting and Communication: Provide regular reports on PC compatibility testing progress, highlighting key findings and risks. Communicate optimally with test teams, developers, and other collaborators to ensure alignment and collaboration.
  • Quality Assurance Process Improvement: Give to the continuous improvement of PC compatibility testing processes and methodologies, implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

What Will Make You A Great Fit:

  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in quality assurance/testing within the video game industry, with a strong focus on PC compatibility testing.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Deep understanding of PC hardware components, operating systems, driver ecosystems, and common PC configurations used by gamers.
    • Solid understanding of QA methodologies, testing tools, and bug tracking systems.
    • Experience with performance supervising tools and techniques.
    • Proficiency in creating and implementing test plans and checklists.
    • Experience with automated testing tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python) is a plus.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyze sophisticated systems and identify potential compatibility issues.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical partners.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in quality assurance/testing (e.g., ISTQB certification) are a plus.
  • Game Development Experience: Experience with game development or scripting languages (e.g., C#, Python) is advantageous.
