Job Description

As a Product Manager, you will act as a point of contact and liaison among business partners to analyze and communicate requirements for changes to business products, processes, and systems. You will work closely with the Product Lead and colleagues across the business, leading a team of product-related roles. Your responsibilities will include gathering and analyzing data to document requirements, translating them into detailed technology needs, and ensuring the needs of partners and customers are met. You will also be responsible for product management and analysis activities, contributing to planning, estimation, and resource profiling, supervising methodology, tooling, and procedures. Moreover, you will be expected to build positive relationships with collaborators, ensuring clear communication and understanding of product activities. The role requires extensive product ownership or business analysis experience, knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and experience in team management.

Job Details

Acts as a point of contact and liaison among business partners in order to elicit, analyse, communicate, and validate requirements for changes to business products; processes and systems. May also be a liaison to external customers and third party suppliers/vendors.

 

Works closely with Product Lead and product colleagues across the business area, coordinating and leading a team of product related roles where required.

Demonstrates a Product Led approach, in-line with our Engineering Principles.

 

Collects and analyses data to document requirements, translating into detailed technology needs & formal specifications ensuring needs of partners and customers are met, coordinating suitable product owner & analyst resources to do so.

 

Reviews business and product needs, instructions, regulations, and laws for intricate projects and implements these changes into products.

 

Authors & communicates requirements documentation depending on the project, undertakes a combination of project management, technical implementation, and test analyst tasks.

 

Expected to have either a strong proprietary knowledge base and several years of previous experience in leading requirements analysis and authoring.

Drives higher level requirement and product design discussions.

Role Responsibilities

1.     Responsible for carrying out product management and analysis activity in the assigned business function, including the elicitation, analysis and documentation of business needs in order to formulate business requirements at the Feature, Epic and User Story levels for each workstream they are responsible for.

2.     Responsible for providing input to the quarterly/annual planning, estimation and resource profiling for their business function, workstreams and/or team.

3.     Responsible for supervising the product management & analysis methodology, tooling, and procedures for their workstreams and/or team.

4.     Leads the day-to-day activities of product management, ownership and analysis within their workstream and/or team.

5.     Builds a positive relationship with all collaborators and wider business delivery partners. Ensuring that product management activities and products are clearly communicated with them and their needs/dependencies understood and validated.

6.     Works closely with architects & developers both within the business area and other areas of dependency to provide input, create solutions and ensure solution designs meet business requirements, including Non-Functional requirements.

7.     Responsible for supporting the identification of skill requirements, role types and interviewing.

8.     Ensures RAID log(s) are updated with related risks, issues and dependencies for their workstreams and/or team.

9.     Models sophisticated business processes and suggests process improvements.

Knowledge & Skill :

  • Extensive product ownership (or business analysis) experience
  • Excellent knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle (Agile / Scrum and Waterfall).
  • Extensive demonstrable experience in financial services, preferably financial markets and fixed income
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate optimally with senior members of staff.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Team management, leadership and development experience
  •   Solid understanding of Jira / Confluence / Excel
  • SQL knowledge useful.

 
Scope of Impact :

  • Responsible for product management activities across their business area, function and/or team
  • Provides strategic product direction and input to business area objectives
  • Advises middle and senior management on functional matters, or on interpretation of policies and practices
  • Supports Product Lead where required
  • Trains, develops and mentors professional colleagues where required

 

Long Term Planning & Decision Making :

  • Makes recommendations and decisions that craft operational strategy
  • Determines the nature of sophisticated or undefined problems; independently identifies the best solution from many alternatives and validates their root cause, considering the broader commercial picture
  • Owns and/or calls out higher risk or more unique problems
  • Decisions require interpretive thinking and some judgment in developing solutions
