Company Description

Raid Base Inc is a USA-based game service development studio, founded in 2020 and funded through Series Seed and Series A.

Our mission is to develop experiences that match the level of commitment and enthusiasm that connoisseur players put into the games they love.

We are crafting an open-world, sandbox PvPvE game, in an original IP. Players will build a reputation for themselves and for their crew through everything they do, building a stronger community that is tempered through adversity.

The Raid Base team is made of developers who actively play games and we established this studio to begin a more intimate dialogue with our players. If you are a developer who believes that studios need to have a deeper connection with and respect for players, we would love to hear from you.

During these uncertain times and rapidly changing environment surrounding COVID-19, all positions at RAID BASE, inc. are virtual/remote. There is a possibility at a future date that we will find a location for physical office(s), but nothing so far is planned.

Job Description

As a VFX Artist you will be responsible for creating effects that help bring the world to life as well as communicate critical gameplay information to players. You will play a key role in defining the effects, pipeline, and performance targets ensuring the effects not only look great but perform well for the game. Daily interaction with a small multidisciplinary team will be commonplace as we collaborate to create an engaging balance between gameplay and visuals. As an early member of the team, your work will be instrumental in realizing the visual direction at Raid Base and help bring our game to reality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the art team to create high quality effects in engine
    • Establish the quality bar for VFX in the game
    • Create and iterate on VFX that support the art direction
    • Create VFX assets for a variety of content, from characters to world atmospherics.
  • Work as a key contributor supporting design and engineering towards gameplay goals
  • Assist in development of the content pipeline, from content tools to in-engine set up.
  • Perpetuate a healthy, creative and team oriented studio culture through collaboration and leading by example.

Required Qualifications

  • Experienced game developer with a track record of shipping.
  • Possess a broad set of game development skills to support working within a small multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in VFX ranging from ‘stylized’ to photorealistic techniques.
  • Resume/CV that details your skills and experience.
  • Portfolio that demonstrates relevant artistic skills and critical thinking.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working in multiple content creation pipelines
  • Generalist skill set, including but not limited to, modeling 3d assets, basic understanding of rigging and animation, unreal blueprint experience.
  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine
  • Active gamer, who keeps a regular pulse on player sentiment
