Job Description Summary:

PayPal Data Analytics Intelligence and Solutions team is dedicated to creating a best-in-class data platform. We are looking for highly talented, professional, and motivated engineers to join our team. As Data Engineer on our DAIS Platform, you will be at the forefront of designing and developing backend data pipelines on GCP (Google Cloud Platform). As part of your responsibilities, you’ll engage in all facets of data pipeline development, including design, coding, ensuring security measures, testing, and overseeing production releases. You will be responsible for delivering new features, enhancements, and fixes for our Data Pipelines within DAIS platform.

•            Leverage your expertise in data to craft customized products, transforming massive datasets (structured & unstructured) into actionable insights.

•            Partner with the business to empower user groups with self-service BI capabilities, fostering data-driven decision-making.

Your day to day – 

  • Build highly scalable backend data pipeline with high throughput in GCP using BigQuery and Dataproc.
  • Independently work on multiple product features, utilizing your technical expertise to propose innovative solutions for both new and existing functionalities, informed by a growing understanding of our products and the business domain.
  • Manage your own project deliverables, timelines, and priorities, effectively balancing multiple tasks to meet project deadlines and performance targets.
  • Actively engage in design and code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers and incorporating feedback into your own work to maintain high standards of code quality and functionality.
  • Share your knowledge and experience to new members to help onboard them onto the team quickly and efficiently, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
     

What do you need to bring-  

  • Masters/bachelor’s in computer science, Computer engineering, or related disciplines, with at least 3 years of technical expertise in one or more of the areas mentioned above or equivalent practical experience. 
  • Advanced scripting experience - Python, Java, etc.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, Hadoop, Spark, Google cloud platform (Big Query, Google cloud storage & Data proc), and Data Engineering techniques, with hands-on experience in developing and deploying large scale data marts/store. 
  • Experience on Bigdata platforms technologies such as Hadoop, BigQuery, Spark, Hive and HDFS.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing solutions, drive end-to-end solutions by analyzing large datasets and transforming them into actionable insights.
  • Strong ETL expertise, manage data extraction, transformation, and loading from various sources using advanced SQL and Jupyter Notebooks/Python.
  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Knowledge of any Scheduling Tools is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
