The Role
Development Management here at Splash Damage is one half of our Production team, the people who bear the responsibility for building and delivering game experiences that our fans and consumer demand. The Development Managers are the champions project management, process, and development practices. They drive delivery and accountability within their game team, pushing for continual improvement and ensuring milestone, gates and all other deliverable expectations are met.

Development Managers work hand-in-hand with feature owners , analysing and breaking down the product needs and wants and helping both the developers and product owners better define, prioritise and deliver our features and content to market expectations. All of the quantitative, planning, and operational elements of a project live with our Development Management team – delivery dates and milestone planning; task breakdown, allocation and tracking; staffing requirements and feature team composition; budget handling,  including external partners. If it matters we measure it - and it lives within the domain of Development Management.

As a Senior Development Director, you’ll play a pivotal role as a department head at the heart of our dynamic game team. Collaborating alongside our Technical Director and product owner, you’ll be part of a trio that drives our game development process. While the product owner defines the “what” and “why,” our technical directors focus on the “who,”, “when,” and “how,” ensuring that our vision becomes reality.

Responsibilities:
  • Owning the plan:You’ll lead the charge in planning, process development and optimization, and measurement. Monitoring delivery timelines, budget, and team health will be second nature to you.
  • Empowering Teams: Your mission is to bring together people, materials, and tools to deliver our product goals. Through mentoring and performance management, you’ll empower diverse teams to achieve their best.
  • Leadership: You foster shared ownership, accountability, and collaboration. Together with your product owner and Technical Director, you model what good looks like for other leaders on the team.
  • Data-Driven Decision-Making:You’re a master of gathering and analysing data to inform our plans, processes, and delivery strategies to ensure the best outcomes.
  • Setting the Standard: As a role model for other project managers, you’ll define how we measure progress, develop solutions, and track success. Your expertise will shine in project steering meetings, ensuring the goals of a given phase or milestone are understood, and how we’ll achieve them are clear.
  • Transparent and Inclusive Culture: Our studio values openness and transparency. We’re passionate about creating games that players love, and our commitment to diversity drives our success.
  • Process Guru:You excel at turning complex requirements into actionable plans. Your expertise in project management and different methodologies allows you to choose the right approach for a given problem. You’ll set the standard for process, and project rituals that ensure the team stays on track and motivated.
What We’d Like to See:
  • Passion for Creativity:You’re a fan of creative industries and interactive entertainment, eager to work with multi-disciplinary teams where the solutions aren’t always clear and obvious.
  • Strategic Thinker:You ensure the plan and goals for the team both near and long term are clear and how we’ll get there and we’ll know are understood.
  • Leadership Across Cultures: You thrive in diverse environments, leading teams with varied backgrounds and perspectives. Your communication skills are top-notch, ensuring seamless collaboration.
  • Effective Communicator:Trust and clear communication are your cornerstones of leadership.
  • Proven Track Record:You’ve successfully owned and delivered complex projects, whether in software, entertainment, or other large-scale endeavours. Your mastery of leveraging scope, schedule, and capacity to deliver the product goals sets you apart.

About The Company

This is the most exciting time in Splash Damage’s history as we begin to realise our ambitions. In December, we debuted the very first trailer for TRANSFORMERS: REACTIVATE. And now, we've just announced Project Astrid: a AAA open-world survival game, developed in partnership with leading creators Sacriel and shroud.

Splash Damage began as a bunch of friends who’d met playing games online. We were gamers who became game developers. In our 20 years of working on some of gaming's most beloved franchises, we’ve never forgotten where we came from, or what we’re about: making multiplayer games that bring people together.

Our studio culture is rooted in our open, friendly and collaborative environment. Games are made by teams, and we believe we create our best work together when we have a diverse range of experiences, perspectives and opinions to draw from.

We’ve always believed that Splash Damage should be a studio where you can have a long career. You’ll get regular opportunities for growth, while developing your skills on compelling projects that keep our players and partners coming back for more.

We're looking for talented people to join us and make their mark and drive our groundbreaking projects.
