Elsewhere Entertainment seeks a Senior Expert Engine Programmer to spearhead the development of innovative systems and technologies for their next-generation AAA titles. This role involves end-to-end ownership of complex systems, from design and prototyping to optimization. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical vision, guide teams, maintain and optimize engine systems, and collaborate with stakeholders. Responsibilities include improving the technology stack for next-gen development, translating creative ideas into software, and fostering a culture of technical excellence. The successful candidate will have 10+ years of professional software engineering experience in AAA game development, deep proficiency in C/C++, 3D math, and advanced algorithmic problem-solving.
Must have:

Job Description:

Elsewhere Entertainment is looking for Senior Expert Engine Programmer to drive the creation of innovative systems and technologies for our next-generation AAA experiences on our new IP. 

In this role, you will take ownership of complex challenges and influence the technical direction of our projects, ensuring that our games deliver exceptional experiences to players around the world.

You will foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration while inspiring those around you with your technical expertise and clear vision for success. 
 
You’ll help us by…  

  • Taking end-to-end ownership of complex systems, from initial design and prototyping to implementation and optimization. 

  • Developing and communicating a technical vision that aligns with project goals, inspiring and guiding your peers and stakeholders. 

  • Maintaining and optimizing engine systems with focus on performance and scalability. 

  • Improving our technology stack for next-gen development and future platforms. 

  • Working with stakeholders to translate creative ideas into software. 

  • Collaborate with peers, fostering a culture of learning and technical excellence. 
     

You’re awesome because you have…  

  • 10+ years as a professional software engineer or equivalent experience, with a proven track record in AAA game development. 

  • Led the design and implementation of large-scale systems with significant complexity and cross-disciplinary impact. 

  • Deep proficiency in C/C++, 3D math, and advanced algorithmic problem-solving. 

  • Experience driving the technical vision of a project and rallying teams around shared goals. 

  • Mastery of multiple disciplines, such as animation, tools, AI, physics, UI/UX, online systems, extensibility, and scalability. 

  • Ability to anticipate challenges, propose innovative solutions, and ensure long-term sustainability of systems. 

  • A strong commitment to writing clean, maintainable, portable, and optimized code. 

  • Contributed significantly to multiple shipped AAA titles, demonstrating leadership in delivering high-quality results.

  • Major recognition in your field(s) of expertise. 

  • Experience in adjacent disciplines such as quest design, environment art, programming, etc.
