Job Description

The Senior Lighter / Look Development Artist will be responsible for creating high-quality environment scenes for the game title. This includes lighting scenes, adjusting shaders and textures, and creating models and assets when needed. The role also involves managing artists to create environments for AAA games. Responsibilities include 3D modeling, texturing, and look development, composing scenes, and managing other artists. The artist should also collaborate with other teams to ensure the art assets support the game's performance and memory budget. This role requires strong art and design foundations, architecture understanding, and experience with game engines, with at least 4 years of relevant experience.
Must have:
  • 4+ years of experience in 3D modeling and texturing.
  • Experience with next-gen modeling and procedural techniques.
  • Experience creating environments in Unreal.
  • Good communication skills and a team-player attitude.
  • Self-motivated with minimal direction.
Good to have:
  • Experience teaching art.
  • Art leadership experience.
  • Houdini Experience.
  • Experience with particle effects.

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for creating high-quality environment scenes for our title. The role involves lighting scenes, adjusting shaders and textures, and creating models and assets when necessary. Additionally, this position helps manage artists to create the environment for our AAA games.


Responsibilities: 

    3D Modeling, Texturing, and Look Development

  •  Develop 3D models, textures and materials based on concept art or other specifications to be game ready.
  •  Willing to explore different approaches of creating environmental assets for game, including but not limit to Procedural Building Generation and sculpting
  • Provide feedback for models and textures made by internal and external artists in order to fully develop the desired look
  • Willing to improve models and textures made by internal and external artists in order to fully develop the most desired look

     Composing Scenes

  • Setting up scenes and lighting using the specified game engine
  • Create and adjust textures and shaders to get the correct effect and achieve aesthetic goal.
  • Follow the given Art Direction and work with other Level Designers to ensure that environments are compelling both visually and also from a gameplay perspective.

     Managing

  • Manage and mentor other Character and Environment Artists
  • Help vet and hire artists
  • Help align the team to the game’s direction
  • Ensure the quality and quantity of the work of the team

     Other Game Development Tasks

  • Work with developers of other discipline to make sure that the art assets support the game performance and memory budget as a whole
  • Help out with design, or testing when necessary
  • Look for and share information regarding latest best practices or tools for better or more efficient 3D art creation


Requirements and Skills:

  • 4+ years professional experience concepting, modeling and texturing environments using Maya, Zbrush, Photoshop, and Substance Designer/Painter. (or equivalent 3D and 2D programs)
  • You know next gen modeling, sculpting and procedural techniques and you know how to use them effectively to create handcrafted and stylized art with allure and appeal.
  • Experience with creating Environments in Unreal
  • Good communication skills—able to help others and ask for help when needed. Being proactive in sharing info and assets
  • Great team-player attitude—being flexible with new ideas, being open to direction and changes. Listening to team mates
  • Self-motivated- requires minimal direction, can carry on the vision for the level until completion and commit to deadlines
  • Intensive experience working with game engines
  • Good foundation in art and design, includes composition, form and color theory.
  • Strong understanding of architecture and city planning
  • Fluent with Photoshop, Substance Suite and ability to paint textures
  • Knowledge of managing art assets for games in clean organization
  • Experience setting up 3D scenes and lighting
  • Experience working with particle effects is a plus


Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching Art, and Environment Art in particular, online or in person
  • Art Leadership experience
  • Houdini Experience

    Salary Range: $90,000 - $150,000 per year
