Job Summary
We are seeking to hire a Senior Systems Administrator who brings strong expertise on both Linux and Ansible Automation. The System Administrator (SA) is responsible for effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to standards, ensuring maximum productivity for IT staff and users.
Responsibilities
Working within a team, the Systems Administrator is responsible for server hardware, operating systems, storage (SAN & NAS), and supporting systems.
Troubleshoot internal and external applications, hardware problems, operating system issues, storage issues (SAN / NAS) and work with new services on a daily basis.
Assist with the development and implementation of policies, procedures and standards relating to server and storage management.
Implement automation, monitoring, and centralized logging.
Perform hardware and operating systems capacity planning for existing services, providing recommendations to application owners and implementing solutions to allow for application and database expansion and performance.
Contribute to Linux standards discussions and documents (with respect to operating system, hardware, storage, networking, and security) and author appropriate documentation where necessary.
Work with database and application teams to gather requirements for new projects and expansion to existing applications.
Deploy and administer AWS EC2, IAM, S3, CloudFront. Storage Gateway and SSM services
Provide functional or program leadership by acting as a team representative to multi-functional projects.
On call as needed (24/365).
Education & Experience Recommended
B.Sc. in Computer Science, IS/IT or equivalent education and/or experience.
5+ years of systems administration experience with the following: Linux, virtualization technologies (VMware preferred), Tier 1/2 storage arrays (block, file/NAS), and Storage Area Networks (SAN).
Solid experience in the installation, configuration, optimization / tuning, hardening, monitoring and automation of a variety of Linux flavors (RHEL/Ubuntu)
Familiarity with HPE Blades/Synergy or similar X86 hardware
Familiarity with HPE Nimble and NetApp storage arrays, and Brocade SAN equipment.
Scripting skills using Python and/or Shell.
Working knowledge of ancillary services / tools such as LDAP, mail relay (postfix, sendmail), remote console services
Good experience in Apache administration.
Working knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol suite (e.g., ARP, IP, TCP, DNS, UDP, and SNMP) and associated operating system tools (snoop, tcpdump, traceroute, etc.).
Good working experience in Systems Management tools such as RedHat Satellite
Experience certifying, installing, configuring, and updating middleware (JBOSS, WebLogic, Tomcat, etc.)
Highly desirable:
Experience configuring, administering and tuning server and storage systems that are supporting Business applications and Oracle databases.
Operational experience with HPE Nimble arrays.
Operational experience with AWS Cloud and AWS SSM for Systems management
Automation of system administration tasks using configuration management tools such as Ansible
