Job Description

As a Senior Mobile Platform Engineer at Epic Games, you will implement and improve low-level systems interfacing with iOS/iPadOS platform APIs (memory allocators, file systems, input systems). You'll analyze and optimize engine performance (load times, memory usage). Responsibilities include improving platform toolchains (compiler/linker support, deployment, SDK upgrades), supporting external customers, and enhancing the engine for future hardware. Experience with low-level systems, platform APIs for iOS, and C++ is crucial. Unreal Engine experience is a plus. The role involves working with Apple software and hardware, designing and implementing platform APIs, and guiding cross-platform API development.
Must have:

What You'll Do

We are looking for a Platform Programmer passionate about creating world-class, industry leading game engine technologies, targeting iOS and iPadOS platforms. You’ll work with the latest in Apple software and hardware offerings to design and implement platform APIs, guide cross-platform API development, and create robust platform toolchains as required by the demands of a variety of both gaming and non-gaming related projects. In this role, you will

  • Implement and improve various low-level systems that interface with platform APIs, i.e. memory allocators (physical and virtual), file systems, and input systems
  • Analyze and continuously strive to solve and optimize problems related to a modern game engine (load times, memory usage and platform specific performance issues)
  • Make improvements to platform toolchains, i.e. compiler/linker support, deployment to device, SDK upgrades, platform specific data management tools, debugger integration, crash reporting, etc.
  • Help us embrace, support, extend and enhance our engine for future hardware.
  • Support external customers

What we're looking for

  • Strong programming background and C++ knowledge, Objective-C is a plus.
  • Experience with a broad range of engineering areas in large, multi-platform codebases
  • Experience with low-level systems and platform APIs for and iOS
  • Well-versed in software engineering principles, especially API and system design
  • Familiarity with development and profiling tools, a plus if it’s Apple specific tools (e.g. Instruments)
  • Familiarity with an existing game engine with an understanding of engine and editor concepts required; Unreal Engine experience a plus

This role is open to multiple locations across the US (including CA & WA).

The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren’t limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic’s generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).

$193,888$284,369 USD
Washington Base Pay Range
$176,262$258,518 USD
