Senior Paralegal, Licensed Merchandise 
San Mateo or Los Angeles, CA (hybrid)- will require coming into the office 2 days per week 

Role Overview:

As a Senior Paralegal, Licensed Merchandise, you'll provide critical legal and operational support to PlayStation’s innovative and growing Licensed Merchandise team. Your work will include managing a diverse portfolio of licensing agreements, safeguarding our intellectual property rights, and coordinating deals that enhance the PlayStation ecosystem and drive significant growth. As a key team member, you'll help ensure our merchandise licensing strategy brings the PlayStation brand to millions of fans through impactful and memorable products. This role will report to the Legal Director, Technology and Advertising. 

The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented, highly organized paralegal with experience in licensing, intellectual property, clearance, and brand compliance. You will be expected to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage a high volume of agreements, and provide reliable guidance while collaborating seamlessly with legal and business stakeholders.

What You’ll Be Doing: 

Contract Support: 

  • Draft, review, and manage merchandise licensing agreements, amendments, renewals, extensions, NDAs and other legal documentation.
  • Oversee the entire contract lifecycle, including the submission and tracking of contract requests, obtaining signatures, and managing contacts in CMS.
  • Simplify and optimize processes related to contract amendments and submission requests. 

Rights Management: 

  • Collaborate with legal stakeholders to manage trademark, copyright, and brand protection efforts, to ensure proper use of the company’s IP in licensed products.
  • Maintain a centralized system to track the company’s various IP, including rights related to publishing, merchandise, sound effects, music, and talent approvals. 

Licensing Deal Coordination: 

  • Support on large licensing deals and may manage small and medium size licensing deals, with support from other team members.
  • Lead review and clearance for style guides, packaging guides, and retail guide assets. 

Due Diligence & Partner Evaluation: 

  • Manage the submission process for due diligence compliance checks for licensees.
  • Provide actionable insights on due diligence outcomes to support the licensing team in evaluating potential partners. 

Legal Operations: 

  • Serve as the lead coordinator for the Licensed Merchandise team’s work with Legal Operations, ensuring smooth collaboration and efficient processes. 

What We’re Looking For: 

  • At least 8 years relevant paralegal or contract management experience, particularly working in-house in an entertainment or technology company’s licensing team.
  • Experience managing licensing related commercial transactions.
  • Experience in the video game, entertainment, or consumer products industry is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of IP laws and licensing practices.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in licensing management, contract management, and sales tools (e.g., Flowhaven, Salesforce, CLM platforms).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with internal and external partners.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$132,900 - $199,300 USD
