Job Description

This role will be responsible for designing, building and maintaining the Kubernetes platform for container orchestration. You will also work closely with development teams to architect and implement applications in a scalable and resilient manner. Other responsibilities include ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of the platform and applications, performing day-to-day operational tasks such as upgrades and patching of Kubernetes platform, automating operational tasks using scripting languages such as Python, Bash or Shell, developing and implementing CI/CD pipelines for application deployment on Kubernetes, monitoring the health of the platform and applications using tools like Prometheus, Grafana or Splunk stack, assisting with capacity planning and load testing of the platform and applications, developing and carrying out best practices for building container-based applications, troubleshooting issues within the platform and working with development teams to resolve application issues, staying updated with the latest industry trends and technologies in container orchestration and cloud-native development.
Must have:
  • Experience as a Kubernetes Platform Engineer
  • Deep knowledge of Kubernetes and Docker
  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Spinnaker, or GitLab
  • Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, etc.)
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex networking issues
Good to have:
  • Cloud Provider industry certifications
  • Experience with Splunk, Python, and Crible
  • Experience managing Linux servers
  • Experience with Atlassian Tools such as Jira & Confluence
  • Experience with Agile development methods
  • Experience with automated testing, continuous integration, and continuous development
  • Experience in monitoring and data visualization with Splunk/Cribl

A Senior Platform Engineer in this group will help guide the creation, installation, and support for systems in our attractions and data center. We work closely with internal partners to deliver world-class guest experiences with interactive systems across Walt Disney World and Disney Cruise Lines.

You will report to Manager-Software Engineering.

What You Will Do

  • Design, build and maintain the Kubernetes platform for container orchestration.

  • Work closely with development teams to architect and implement applications in a scalable and resilient manner.

  • Ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of the platform and applications.

  • Perform day-to-day operational tasks such as upgrades and patching of Kubernetes platform.

  • Automate operational tasks using scripting languages such as Python, Bash or Shell.

  • Develop and implement CI/CD pipelines for application deployment on Kubernetes.

  • Monitor the health of the platform and applications using tools like Prometheus, Grafana or Splunk stack.

  • Assist with capacity planning and load testing of the platform and applications.

  • Develop and carry out best practices for building container-based applications.

  • Troubleshoot issues within the platform and work with development teams to resolve application issues.

  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies in container orchestration and cloud-native development.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Shown work experience as a Kubernetes Platform Engineer or similar role in DevOps.

  • Deep knowledge of Kubernetes and Docker.

  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Spinnaker, or GitLab.

Preferred Qualifications
