The IT Platform team at Zoox is expanding our focus to include IT Technical Operations for our robot fleet, emphasizing on real-time command center support, real-time monitoring services, and the application of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles. As the Staff Technical Operations Engineer, you will spearhead the initiative to build and lead a brand-new Technical Operations Engineering team. Building this team from the ground up, you will ensure they play a crucial role in the stability and success of our live robot missions. In this role, you will:
- Real-Time Command Center Operations: Work within the Zoox Fusion Center, serving as the primary IT point-of-contact during work hours. Support real-time operations by providing immediate troubleshooting and technical assistance.
- Real-Time Monitoring: Oversee the monitoring of our active robot fleet, ensuring constant vigilance and a quick response to any issues. Implement and manage real-time monitoring solutions to maintain system stability.
- Technical Support: Provide robust technical support for deployed environments in AWS. Utilize your expertise in networking, and cloud computing to ensure operational efficiency.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with multiple technical and support teams to enhance our real-time operations capabilities. Work collaboratively to discover, document, and optimize real-time technical operations processes.
- SRE Principles: Apply SRE principles to improve the reliability, scalability, and performance of our systems. Drive continuous improvement in our real-time operations environment.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of IT experience and 5+ years of real-time operations experience
- BS / MS in Information Technology or equivalent experience
- Proven track record of working successfully in critical real-time operations, e.g. life-safety, financial, transportation, etc
- Full-stack knowledge: Understanding of the concepts of production IT environments and end-to-end service delivery.
- Experience with Linux systems administration, preferably Ubuntu
- Demonstrable knowledge of networking concepts and troubleshooting: OSI model, TCP/IP, DMZ
- Exposure to operating production environments in AWS
- Familiarity with real-time monitoring solutions and concepts
- Beneficial: Exposure to EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service)
Compensation
There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $222,000 to $293,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
