Job Description

The Senior Product Safety & Compliance Manager at PlayStation will ensure all products meet regulatory and safety standards across Americas and EMEA. Responsibilities include leading certification processes for new product launches, collaborating with internal/external teams, developing compliance strategies, tracking regulatory changes, and conducting investigations into safety incidents. The role requires expertise in safety, EMC, Radio, and Energy Efficiency regulations, along with strong project management and communication skills. This is a highly operational role involving significant interaction with global teams and regulatory bodies. The candidate will also be responsible for training stakeholders and maintaining product compliance until end-of-life.
Must have:
  • 8+ years in regulatory compliance (Safety, EMC, Radio)
  • Experience managing multiple product certifications
  • Product compliance experience (labeling, manuals, packaging)
  • Strong collaboration with international teams
  • Understanding of hardware product development

Senior Product Safety and Compliance Manager

London, UK (hybrid) 

Role Overview:

As the Senior Product Safety and Compliance Manager, you will join PlayStation’s Global Compliance Team, playing a vital role in ensuring our products meet regulatory and safety standards across the Americas and EMEA regions. This position offers a unique opportunity to develop a comprehensive understanding of PlayStation’s regulatory and supply chain operations while contributing directly to the successful launch of our innovative products.

In this highly operational role, you will collaborate with key internal teams and external stakeholders across the Sony Group, acting as a critical partner in navigating complex compliance requirements. Your expertise will be essential in maintaining product safety and supporting PlayStation's commitment to delivering exceptional gaming experiences.

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Ensure PlayStation products comply with all regulations, including Safety, EMC, Radio, and Energy Efficiency across multiple regions, including North America, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, India, South Africa, and Australia.
  • Lead certification processes for new product launches, coordinating with the Tokyo head office, local partners, testing labs, and agencies to achieve timely approvals.
  • Collaborate with product development teams to incorporate compliance into the design and development process.
  • Develop and implement strategic approaches to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements for successful product launches.
  • Track changes to certification and test standards, ensuring documentation is current and products meet all compliance requirements until the end of life
  • Develop and refine compliance procedures and coordinate business optimization projects to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal tracking to ensure regulatory compliance requirements are implemented throughout the business by the enforcement date.
  • Represent SIE in relevant technical standards committees and industry trade associations.
  • Proactively communicate new requirements to cross-functional teams and senior management.
  • Investigate Market Surveillance inquiries and manage non-compliance investigations, working with relevant teams to implement corrective actions.
  • Lead investigations into alleged safety incidents, conduct detailed analysis and implement corrective action. Train stakeholders in reporting systems and assist the legal department.
  • Foster a collaborative culture within the global product compliance team, ensuring regional consistency and alignment.
  • Conduct training sessions to educate internal teams on compliance standards and practices.

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent preferred
  • 8+ years working in one or more regulatory compliance fields (e.g. Safety, EMC, Radio) in design, testing and/or certification roles
  • Experience managing multiple product compliance certifications with sound project management skills
  • Product compliance experience relating to labeling, instruction manuals and packaging
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with international counterparts
  • Understanding of hardware product development and regulatory compliance processes in the electronics manufacturing industry
  • Passion for innovation and a proactive approach to problem-solving
