Job Description

Epic Games seeks a Senior SDET to enhance software quality processes by automating tasks and developing robust testing tools. This role involves designing and maintaining test tools and automation frameworks, building backend services, planning complex system-level test scenarios, and enabling automation across teams. Responsibilities include collaborating with developers and QA, tracking performance metrics, optimizing release processes, and innovating within the gaming industry. The ideal candidate possesses strong experience in automated testing, C# and C++, tooling development, and cloud infrastructure (AWS a plus). This position contributes to a collaborative effort with Disney to build a new games and entertainment universe.
Must have:
  • Proven experience in automated testing and frameworks

  • Tooling development and build pipeline experience
  • End-to-end, functional, and unit testing experience
  • Collaboration using version control (e.g., Git)
  • Experience with orchestration tools (e.g., Jenkins)
Good to have:
  • Python/Javascript scripting
  • Cloud infrastructure (AWS)
  • Polyglot development (full-stack)
  • Games industry experience

The Quality Assurance team owns the testing process, risk management, and quality evaluation of all products and functions across Epic. Our team works closely with developers and production to ensure the best possible user experience for our community and customers.

What You'll Do

The Walt Disney Company and Epic Games are collaborating on an all-new games and entertainment universe. As an SDET, your primary role will be to enhance our software quality processes by significantly reducing testing time and increasing efficiency. You will achieve this by automating repetitive manual tasks and developing robust testing tools, ultimately streamlining the workflow of our QA teams.

In this role, you will

  • Work on a team that aims to grow test automation and scale services and tooling to meet the needs of Epic’s portfolio
  • Design, develop, and maintain test tools and automation frameworks. This includes building backend services to facilitate testing needs
  • Plan, design, and implement complex system-level test scenarios
  • Enable developers, testers, and analysts to author automation test scripts, implement automation best practices, and help lay the foundation of scalable, automated test solutions
  • Track performance metrics testing patterns, optimize product verification and release processes, collaborate with Programmers, QA, and other SDETs across teams and projects
  • Build relationships and partnerships with internal customers and stakeholders across Epic
  • Bring innovation in the gaming industry testing

What we're looking for

  • Proven experience in the design, implementation, deployment, and maintenance of automated tests and frameworks
  • Knowledge of C# and C++ languages; scripted languages such as Python, Javascript, or other languages a big plus
  • Experience with tooling development and build pipelines
  • Experience with end-to-end, functional, and unit tests
  • Experience working collaboratively with team members on a common codebase using version control tools (e.g., Perforce, Git)
  • Knowledge or experience with building and testing orchestration tools (e.g., Jenkins, GHA)
  • Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure. (AWS is a plus)
  • Experience with Polyglot development, working between full-stack systems. I.e., a full-stack web application (service and frontend)
  • Games industry experience is a plus

This role is open to multiple locations in North America (including WA).

Pay Transparency Information

The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren’t limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic’s generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).
