Red Rover Interactive is an exciting new game development studio founded by industry veterans from renowned companies such as Funcom, Lockwood Publishing, Bohemia Interactive, Ubisoft Reflections, and more. We're on a mission to reimagine the multiplayer gaming landscape, with an emphasis on crafting groundbreaking survival experiences that champion player agency and drama.

The Role:

As a Server Programmer at Red Rover Interactive, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining server-side technologies that power our online gaming experiences. Your expertise will contribute to creating seamless and engaging multiplayer gameplay for our players.

In your role as a Server Programmer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing server-side systems and architecture to tackle thousands of concurrent players. This includes developing network protocols and APIs to facilitate communication between clients and servers, as well as optimizing server performance and scalability to support large-scale multiplayer environments. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with game designers, client programmers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of server-side features. Furthermore, you will provide technical guidance and support to other team members as needed.

You can expect ownership, responsibility as well as the agency to shape an innovative and scaling server architecture.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Proficiency in server-side programming using C++.
  • Experience with network programming and socket communication.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.

In addition, we expect you to:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with multiplayer game development concepts and practices.
  • Proven experience in server-side development in Unreal Engine.
  • Good understanding of Unreal's replication and network model.
  • Experience with client-side prediction.
