Haven Studios seeks an experienced Senior Lighting Artist to contribute to their PlayStation and PC title, Fairgames. Responsibilities include artistically and technically analyzing images to meet visual goals, creating captivating lighting that enhances gameplay while considering technical constraints, collaborating with art and technical teams to establish high standards and workflows, maintaining documentation, staying updated on industry trends, and proactively addressing obstacles. The ideal candidate possesses 5+ years of relevant experience, including at least one AAA console game release, and a strong understanding of lighting theory, composition, and color theory. They should excel in communication and possess a collaborative mindset.

Haven Studios est un studio de développement de jeux vidéo basé à Montréal. En mai 2021, nous nous sommes embarqués dans un voyage pour créer Haven en tant que petite équipe avec de grandes ambitions. Notre objectif était de bâtir un studio composé de personnes exceptionnelles où, ensemble, nous pourrions créer le genre de jeux que nous avons toujours voulu créer - des jeux auxquels nous avons toujours souhaité jouer. Haven a rejoint la famille PlayStation Studios en tant que première équipe de développement de jeux Sony au Canada en 2022.

Notre premier jeu, Fairgames, est en cours de développement pour PlayStation et PC. Fairgames est un jeu d'action et de braquage multijoueur compétitif dont la vision est de construire un monde systémique et évolutif axé sur la liberté, le frisson et le jeu, qui divertira et engagera les joueur·euse·s pour les années à venir.

Poste - Artiste Lighting Senior

Nous sommes à la recherche d'un·e Artiste Lighting expérimenté·e pour rejoindre notre équipe. Vous soutiendrez la vision artistique du projet et améliorerez l'aspect général et la sensation du jeu avec un éclairage qui crée une expérience immersive.  Votre capacité à créer et à concevoir des solutions techniques d'éclairage démontre votre sens de la composition, votre conviction de créer des visuels de haute qualité et votre désir de créer une atmosphère qui fera partie intégrante de la création d'un voyage mémorable pour le joueur.


 

Reporting

L’Artiste Lighting Senior relèvera du Producteur.


 

Responsabilités et tâches

  • Analyser les images d'un point de vue artistique et technique pour s'assurer que les objectifs visuels soient compris. 

  • Créer des éclairages efficaces et captivants qui améliorent le gameplay tout en tenant compte des contraintes techniques. 

  • Travailler en étroite collaboration avec les équipes artistiques et techniques pour fixer des normes élevées et développer des flux de travail, des outils et des processus.

  • Préparer et maintenir une documentation cohérente pour les outils et les procédures. 

  • Se tenir au courant des dernières technologies et identifier les tendances et les meilleures pratiques qui auront un impact positif sur le jeu. 

  • Identifier de manière proactive les obstacles et créer des solutions pour atténuer l'impact sur le jeu.


 

Qualifications recherchées

  •  5 ans ou plus d'expérience pertinente.

  • Au moins un jeu console AAA sorti.

  • Excellente connaissance de la façon dont les effets d'éclairage des images créent une atmosphère et influencent l'expérience de jeu.

  • Excellente connaissance de la théorie et des techniques d'éclairage

  • Une bonne compréhension de la composition et de la théorie des couleurs et de la façon dont elles affectent l'expérience de jeu.

  • Bonne communication avec les membres de l'équipe technique et non technique.

  • Soucieux·euse d'obtenir des résultats de qualité supérieure.

  • Motivation personnelle avec un fort esprit de collaboration et de travail en équipe.

  • Bonne connaissance pratique des logiciels 3D/2D. 


 

Qualifications souhaitées

  • Expérience avec Unreal Engine.

  • Expérience PS4/PS5.

  • Familiarité avec les outils PlayStation de Sony.

Haven joined the PlayStation Studios family as the first Sony game development team in Canada in 2022.

Fairgames is a competitive multiplayer action heist with a vision to build a systemic and evolving world focused on freedom, thrill and playfulness that will entertain and engage players for years to come. 

Position – Senior Lighting Artist

We are looking for an experienced Senior Lighting Artist to join the Haven Entertainment Studios project team. As the Senior Lighting Artist, you will support the artistic vision of the project and enhance the overall look and feel of the game with lighting that creates an immersive experience.  Your ability to create and design technical lighting solutions demonstrates your eye for composition, belief in creating high quality visuals and desire to create atmosphere that will be integral to creating a memorable player journey. 

Reporting

The Senior Lighting Artist will report to the Producer - Maps.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Artistically and technically analyze images to ensure visual goals are understood 

  • Creating effective and captivating lighting that enhances the gameplay while taking into consideration technical constraints. 

  • Work closely with art and technical teams to set high standards and develop workflows, tools and processes

  • Prepare and maintain coherent documentation for tools & procedures 

  • Keep up to date with the latest technologies and identify trends and best practices that will positively impact the game. 

  • Proactively identify obstacles and create solutions to mitigate the impact on the game

Experience and Skills Required

  • 3+ years of relevant experience 

  • Shipped at least one AAA console game

  • An excellent awareness of how image lighting effects create atmosphere and affect gameplay experience

  • Excellent knowledge of lighting theory and techniques

  • A good understanding of composition and color theory and how it affects game feel

  • Good communication with both technical and non-technical team members

  • Thrive on achieving superior results

  • Self-motivated with a strong collaborative and teamwork-oriented mindset.

  • Good working knowledge of 3D/2D packages  

Preferred Qualifications

  • Unreal Engine experience

  • PS4/PS5 experience 

  • Familiarity with Sony’s PlayStation tools
