The Crown Is Yours

As a Director of Cloud FinOps you will join our Engineering Excellence team's mission to drive financial accountability and technological excellence. You will serve as the central authority on cost savings and provide stakeholders with insight into engineering-driven costs and usage reporting. You will lead your team into aiding decision-making on cost efficiency and support technology leaders to empower their teams to "act like owners" regarding cost management and appropriate cloud infrastructure usage. In this role, you will drive initiatives to identify cost optimization opportunities, build tooling to support engineering teams in making informed decisions about architecture and understand cost structures.

What you’ll do as a Director of Engineering

• Build & develop a multi-disciplined Engineering team.

• Lead the efforts in cloud budgeting, planning, forecasting, and reporting.

• Foster a culture of financial responsibility and cloud finance operations excellence.

• Establish strong working relationships with product engineering teams to understand the challenges our engineers have with understanding the impact of their work on cloud spend.

• Partner with Site Reliability, Architecture, Financial Planning & Analysis, and other stakeholders to drive FinOps best practice adoption.

• Define and spearhead initiatives to automate best practices in financial operations.

• Assist in cloud vendor contract negotiations.

• Grow the members of your team through career management and feedback.

What skills you’ll bring

• Proven background in establishing and leading cloud cost financial operations.

• Solid understanding of and experience with cloud technology economics and finance and be able to drive finance alignment across global teams.

• Minimum 6 years of building high-performing teams.

• Experience with AWS & GCP cloud platforms to understand cost and usage.

• Experience in establishing organizational compliance to cost optimization initiatives.
