Director of Product Design

What Does Success Look Like?

We are seeking an experienced Director of Product Design with a proven track record in leading and scaling high-performing design teams within fast-paced, innovative environments. In this role, you will drive the strategic direction of our design efforts, oversee the development of next-generation software solutions, and ensure the seamless integration of our design system with advanced AI capabilities.

Reporting directly to the Head of Product Design, you will collaborate closely with senior product, engineering, and business leaders to align design initiatives with organizational goals, foster a culture of design excellence, and elevate the overall impact of our design function across the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set Strategic Design Direction: Lead the development and execution of design strategies that align with business objectives and drive product innovation.
  • Enhance AI-Powered User Experiences: Spearhead the creation of cutting-edge, AI-driven user experiences that delight users and drive engagement.
  • Mentor and Develop Talent: Provide strategic mentorship and guidance to design teams, fostering growth and continuous development of individual contributors.
  • Oversee Design Operations: Manage the day-to-day operations of design teams, ensuring optimal performance, productivity, and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Drive Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a key strategic partner to senior product and engineering leaders, providing insights that shape product strategy and design outcomes.
  • Communicate with Executive Leadership: Clearly articulate design challenges, opportunities, and solutions to executive leadership, ensuring alignment and support for design initiatives.
  • Manage Design Resources: Oversee the allocation of design resources, managing capacity, velocity, and addressing roadblocks to ensure timely delivery of high-quality design work.
  • Inspire Innovation: Leverage your extensive design management experience to inspire and challenge the design team, pushing the boundaries of creativity and innovation.
  • Champion a Unified Design Vision: Align cross-functional teams around a cohesive design vision, ensuring seamless integration of design, product, and development efforts.

  • Exceptional Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate complex design concepts to a variety of stakeholders, including executive leadership.

  • Extensive Software Design Experience: Significant experience in building and shipping software, with a strong grasp of design's technical dimensions.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Extensive experience working directly with stakeholders and end users to inform and refine design decisions.
  • Leadership Experience: A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in product design management or a similar leadership role.
