Summary

This summer 2025 internship at Pixar's Systems Department offers hands-on experience in systems administration within a creative animation studio environment. As part of the Devices & Deployment team, you'll provide technical support, troubleshoot issues, and deliver solutions for hardware and software across various platforms. Responsibilities include provisioning, deploying, and supporting user-facing technologies, working in diverse locations (data centers, theaters, etc.). The internship will provide valuable experience in a fast-paced, collaborative setting, working alongside experienced systems engineers.
Must have:
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Familiarity with Linux/UNIX or macOS
  • Troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with productivity tools
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
  • Junior in college, returning to school in the fall
Good to have:
  • Helpdesk experience
  • Jamf Pro experience
  • Shell scripting or Python/Ruby experience
  • Windows/iOS device experience

The Systems Department at Pixar Animation Studios is offering an exciting internship opportunity geared towards students pursuing a career in systems administration. The program provides hands-on experience and exposure to the creative energy of a working animation studio. During this 12-week internship, you will join a team of systems engineers on the Devices & Deployment team, providing elegant technical solutions and delivering comprehensive support to the creators of some of the most iconic films ever made. Through this internship, you will gain valuable experience provisioning, deploying, and supporting user-facing hardware and software in a cross-platform environment.

Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience
  • Familiarity with Linux, or other UNIX-like operating systems, and/or macOS
  • Ability to troubleshoot open-ended technical issues
  • Experience using email, calendar, and common productivity tools such as Google Docs, Slack, etc.
  • Ability to work in awkward locations, such as data centers, theater projection booths, and under desks
  • Ability to lift and manipulate objects weighing up to 40 lbs

Bonus Points:

  • Experience at a helpdesk or similar support environment
  • Experience using Jamf Pro, or similar software for Apple device management
  • Experience writing shell scripts, or programming in a higher-level language such as Python or Ruby
  • Experience with Windows and/or iOS devices

Eligibility:

  • You must be a junior in college working towards a degree in a related field, and returning to school in the fall.
  • This is a full-time position. You are required to be onsite Mon-Fri from 5.19.25 – 8.8.25.
  • Must already possess the legal authorization to work in the US.
