The IT Technical Writer will create, edit, and manage high-quality IT documentation. Responsibilities include proofreading IT communications, writing and editing IT articles, developing user guides and FAQs, maintaining the IT Knowledge Base, and collaborating with IT teams. The role requires ensuring technical accuracy, clarity, and readability for diverse audiences, and keeping content updated with the latest IT initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong writing and communication skills and experience with content management systems. The position involves working closely with IT support teams and other departments to ensure content aligns with operational needs and participating in planning and strategy sessions.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field
  • 2+ years technical writing experience (IT preferred)
  • Excellent writing, editing, proofreading skills
  • Content management system (CMS) experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • IT terminology and concepts understanding
Good to have:
  • Understanding of IT Support and Infrastructure
  • Familiarity with common IT tools
Project description

The Technical Writer will be responsible for creating, editing, and managing high-quality IT documentation to enhance understanding and communication across the organization. This role focuses on writing and proofreading IT articles, ensuring consistency and clarity in all IT communications, and maintaining the IT Knowledge Base (KB) space for easy accessibility and usability.

Responsibilities

Proofread and oversee all IT-related communications, including email announcements, notifications, and internal memos.

Ensure all communications maintain a professional tone and align with company branding and standards.

Write, edit, and proofread IT articles, ensuring technical accuracy, clarity, and readability for a diverse audience.

Develop clear, concise, and user-friendly content to support IT initiatives, such as user guides, FAQs, troubleshooting documents, and process documentation.

Coordinate with IT team members to keep content up to date with the latest IT initiatives, policies, and updates.

Organize, manage, and maintain the IT Knowledge Base (KB) space, ensuring easy navigation and accessibility for all employees.

Implement a system for regular updates, revisions, and archiving of outdated content in the KB.

Work closely with IT, support teams, and other departments to ensure content aligns with operational needs.

Participate in planning and strategy sessions to understand upcoming IT projects and initiatives, ensuring documentation needs are met.

Serve as the point of contact for documentation and communication support within the IT department.

Skills

Must have

Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Communications, Computer Science, or a related field.

Strong proficiency in English, with excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills

2 years or more of proven experience in technical writing, preferably within IT or technology environments.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.

Experience with content management systems (CMS) and/or knowledge base software is a plus.

Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible language for diverse audiences.

Familiarity with IT terminology and concepts, with the ability to explain technical information clearly and concisely.

Nice to have

Understanding of IT Support and Infrastructure, including familiarity with common IT tools, processes, and terminology.
