Summary

Onward Search is seeking a User Experience Writer for a major financial institution's Consumer & Community Banking division. This hybrid role (3 days onsite in Plano, TX or Columbus, OH) is a 6+ month contract with potential for full-time conversion. Responsibilities include developing and implementing content strategies, collaborating with cross-functional teams, creating user-friendly content, building and refining content taxonomies, crafting brand voice, analyzing content performance, adhering to content standards, and collaborating with designers. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in content design or UX writing, strong writing skills, familiarity with accessibility guidelines, and experience with iterative design techniques. This role requires close collaboration and adherence to compliance guidelines.

We are currently partnering with a major financial institution to fill an exciting User Experience Writer position with their Consumer & Community Banking division. This division is known for its innovative digital solutions and customer-centric approach, leading the U.S. in credit card sales and deposit growth.

Location: Plano, TX or Columbus, OH
Type: Hybrid (3 days onsite per week)
Contract Duration: 6+ months, with potential for conversion to full-time
Rate: $51.00 - $59.00/hour

As a User Experience Writer, you will have a key role in shaping customer experiences and building trust across our client’s digital products and services. With a focus on content design, you will plan, create, and structure content that enhances user experiences, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver intuitive, engaging, and accessible content.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Content Strategy: Develop and implement content strategies for products and features that align with user experience principles and business goals.
  • Collaboration: Work with design, product, and engineering teams to create user-friendly content that is accessible and intuitive for diverse audiences.
  • Taxonomy Creation: Build and refine content taxonomies based on user feedback to improve content structure and navigation.
  • Brand Voice: Craft clear, concise, and engaging content that communicates complex concepts effectively while maintaining the brand’s voice.
  • Content Performance: Analyze content performance metrics and provide data-driven recommendations for content optimization and enhanced user experiences.
  • Content Standards: Adhere to and help evolve content standards, including voice, tone, and content patterns.
  • Design Collaboration: Collaborate with designers on design solutions and iterative prototypes to ensure content is integrated effectively.
  • Compliance: Ensure content follows governance rules and secure necessary approvals from legal, risk, and compliance partners.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in content design or user experience writing, or equivalent experience in copywriting for digital experiences.
  • Strong ability to develop content architectures and write clear, concise, user-focused content.
  • Experience with accessibility guidelines and inclusive design to create user-friendly content.
  • Familiarity with iterative design techniques, incorporating user feedback to continuously improve content.
  • Proficient in content platforms and understanding of their impact on user experience.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new financial services products and offerings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced copywriting skills, particularly in crafting headlines and calls to action that drive engagement and conversion.
  • Experience in marketing, advertising, or branding for consumer products.
  • Experience measuring content effectiveness through both quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Expertise in storytelling and its role in user interaction.
  • Knowledge of content strategy techniques, including heuristic audits, content matrices, site mapping, and pattern design.
  • A strong opinion (softly held) on the Oxford comma.
