Job Summary
BuildStaff Inc. is seeking a Java Developer for an on-site position in Alexandria, Virginia. The role involves providing end-to-end production support, including prompt response and timely resolution of critical incidents. The developer will work with shell scripts, Unix commands for application monitoring, and communicate with internal and external teams, including client Subject Matter Experts. Responsibilities include bug fixing, resolving issues from queues and logs, creating interfaces for workarounds, and implementing minor/major updates to existing features and small incremental feature updates. The project focuses on maintaining an internal Struts-based web application and a back-office subsystem using Java and Perl scripts, with interfaces to external web services written in Java.

Role Java developer
Work Location Alexandria, VA
Total experience in required skill (years) ~8 to 10 years
Mandatory Technical / Functional Skills
1. Web development experience
a. Good HTML5/CSS/JavaScript experience.
b. Experience in working with struts based web application
2. Good database skills
a. Oracle experience strongly preferred.
b. Working experience with stored procedures, trigger, medium complex SQL queries - PL/SQL in Oracle
3. Experience working in Linux/Unix environment, shall scripting and using version control
4. Good Communication skills.
Must have technical skills –
Java/J2ee, Struts, Web service, Unix shall script (working exp. on simple and medium complex scripts)
Required technical skills: HTML, CSS, JAVA Script, PL/SQL, Oracle, Linux/Unix Environment, Pearl script
Roles and responsibility
* End to end production support with prompt response and timely resolution of P1, P2 and P3 incidents
* Should have hands on work experience on shall scripts, basis unix commands specially file handling etc. from application monitoring and support perspactive
* Communicating with multiple internal and external team includin client SME's
* Bug Fixing and Resolution
* Work from issue queues and error logs to resolve bugs
* Create interfaces for resolving common issues with time-intensive work-around
* Minor/Major updates to existing features (field adds, rule changes, new screen creation etc.)
* Small/incremental feature updates
Desirable Technical / Functional Skills
Person will be working with Client IT SMEs and business users. Person will have opportunity to work in highly visible IT application support services of a leading toll company based out of VA, USA
Project involves maintaining internal struts based web application and back office subsystem (processes written in java and perl script languages) utilizing interface/external web services written in java.
