Ninja Van Legal Team wishes to bring on board a commercially-savvy Legal Counsel to augment the legal team's capabilities and capacity. Key responsibilities include reviewing, drafting and negotiating commercial contracts to ensure successful closings, advising on corporate, regulatory and legal matters and providing legal support in day-to-day operations of Ninja Van Legal Team the Company. The Legal Counsel is expected to be a highly self-motivated individual, has strong attention to detail, proficient in communication and capable of operating independently. The Legal Counsel will report to Malaysia Country Legal Head and is expected to collaborate with all business units.
The Legal Counsel will:
Draft, review, negotiate and advise on a range of commercial contracts (including confidentiality/non-disclosure contracts, procurement contracts, tenancy agreements, etc.) in compliance with internal Group contracting policies.
Provide legal advice and support on contractual, commercial (including any potential/actual disputes and claims) and litigation-related matters.
Advise and assist in various legal-related initiatives and projects (e.g. regulatory and compliance, process improvement, employment, corporate secretarial matters, etc.)
Collaborate with various internal stakeholders (e.g. commercials, procurement, operations, customer support, marketing, finance, human resources, etc.).
Assist in managing litigation and external counsels, company secretarial matters and general corporate, commercial and licensing documentation.
Perform other legal and compliance related duties tasked from time-to-time.
Requirements
Minimum 3 - 5 years’ PQE. A combination of in-house experience with a multinational corporation and private practice with a reputable law firm is preferred.
Law degree from a leading university in the common law jurisdiction.
Experience in the logistics / transportation industry is a bonus, but is not a requirement.
Experience in corporate commercial/contract works (including contract negotiation) and handling of general legal matters, with strong attention to detail.
Self-starter with excellent initiative skills. Capable of working autonomously and is business oriented.
Excellent communication skills, particularly in explaining legal concepts and issues in simple language to non-lawyers and providing succinct, accurate and comprehensible legal advice.
High degree of flexibility and ability in implementing and navigating changes.
Ability to develop and sustain good working relationships with internal stakeholders at all levels and across all cultures.
Strong problem-solving and risk assessment capabilities.
Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia is essential (oral & written). Any added language would be a bonus.
