Job Description

The Production Finance Manager at Netflix will be crucial in setting and achieving the Film team's production finance goals. This includes creating precise and timely production budgets and final cost estimations, safeguarding company investments through robust financial policies, providing strong production finance support to film crews, and identifying innovative opportunities. Responsibilities involve collaboration with various teams (Line Producers, Production Managers, Accounting Staff, and executives), hiring skilled production accounting teams, liaising with cross-functional Netflix teams, and working directly with show accountants on daily cost reporting and asset management. The role also requires staying updated on industry trends, production incentives, and conducting on-site audits of production locations.

This Production Finance Manager will be instrumental in creating and implementing the production finance goals of the Film team. The goals include i) providing accurate, timely and complete production budgets and estimated final costs ii) protecting company’s investment through cash management, policies and procedures, iii) providing shows with the production finance support to facilitate producing great content, and iv) Identify opportunities for us to innovate.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Line Producers, Production Managers, Accounting Staff and executives from the Netflix Film team to deliver the highest quality original entertainment content.

  • Hire the most talented production accounting teams with the skillset to provide the highest level of production accounting support on shows that are some of the most ambitious and complex to ever be produced.  

  • Liaise with Netflix cross-functional teams (including Production, Legal, Creative,  HR, Labor Relations, Content Accounting, and Treasury) to ensure production finance policies and procedures are current and effectively implemented on our productions.

  • Work with show accountants on a day-to-day basis to drive accurate, complete, and timely cost reporting, protecting and managing show assets and supporting production. Review production budgets, incentives, cash flows, cost reports and trial balances prepared by show accountants. 

  • Keep abreast of current and changing industry trends, evolving technologies, production incentives and changes in crew capacity and infrastructure support in the main worldwide production centers.

  • Travel to production locations where our shows are filming to audit, review work flows, organizational abilities and effectiveness of accounting staff.

  • Develop relationships with Film Commissioners, Accountants, Producers and Payroll Companies to build resources and networks from which to poll industry information and help ensure all production finance processes are current, reasonable and timely.

Qualifications

  • Candidates must have extensive production finance/production accounting experience, either at the studio level or in the field, managing feature film budgets.

  • Broad understanding of domestic and international production incentives.

  • Solid understanding of payroll process, union labor agreements and tax requirements.

  • Expert skill level of Movie Magic Budgeting and all Netflix supported production accounting systems.

  • Solution focused with the ability to understand and articulate issues using creative, production or financial context.

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $50,000-240,000.
