Scopely seeks a Narrative Game Designer for Star Trek Fleet Command (remote UK). Responsibilities include creating storylines and dialogues for in-game missions, implementing content using custom tools, participating in writers' room sessions, shaping Star Trek lore, creating design documentation, writing in-game events, playtesting, balancing game systems, and collaborating with various teams. The ideal candidate possesses exceptional creative writing and technical writing skills, spreadsheet knowledge, and mobile game/AAA writing experience. They should also demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Description

Scopely is looking for a Narrative Game Designer to join our Star Trek Fleet Command team within our Midcore division on a remote basis in the UK.

Star Trek Fleet Command's ongoing success goes from strength to strength. Our in-house developed RPG was launched in 2018 and continues to evolve, being consistently one of the top 10 gross revenue Massive Multiplayer Strategy games on the market.
 
What You Will Do
  • Create storylines and write dialogues for Missions in the game
  • Implement game content using custom development tools. This includes narrative design, mission writing, creating game environments, and quest design
  • Participate in Writers’ Room sessions with the team and help to shape Star Trek lore
  • Assist in the creation of design documentation and specifications
  • Write in-game Events and work with content and feature teams
  • Playtest, balance, and provide feedback on new game systems
  • Curate company-wide playthroughs and feedback sessions
  • Work with Systems Designers, Artists, UX Designers, Producers, and more to update a live game with a huge active audience.
What We’re Looking For
  • Exceptional creative writing skills. We want to see a writing portfolio that showcases your talent and, if possible, some samples from games you’ve worked on
  • Technical writing ability. You’ll be instrumental in writing design documentation, style guides, in-game tooltips, and tutorials. You must be able to write clear and accurate specs for developers and player-facing instructions inside the game
  • Spreadsheet knowledge. Narrative Designers on our team also work with numbers and balancing. You need to know how to work with data to refine your craft and deliver to quality
  • Experience working as a Writer or Narrative Designer in mobile games or AAA, specializing in writing dialogue
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and the ability to work in a team
