Job Description

The NON CDL Art Transportation Specialist is responsible for the safe handling of artwork during transit between Crozier facilities. The role involves assisting with loading and unloading freight, ensuring the integrity of artworks is maintained. Responsibilities include handling and moving artworks, installing and de-installing artworks, loading and unloading trucks, planning truck organization for safety, conducting inspection reports, leading teams, acting as a liaison with clients, and safely operating company vehicles. This role requires a minimum of 2 years of experience in fine arts transportation or specialized removals, and involves traveling locally and occasionally overnight.
Must have:
  • Handle and move artworks, including wrapping, packing, and crating.
  • Install/de-install artworks during onsite projects.
  • Load/unload trucks to ensure safe transit.
  • Plan the organization and packing of trucks.
  • Conduct inspection reports for various art objects.
  • Lead a team, providing guidance and coaching.
  • Safely operate company vehicle; transport art.
  • Perform all required truck inspections.
  • Ability to safely operate 26-ft box truck.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Clean/Clear driving record.

To that end, our NON CDL Art Transportation Specialists are responsible for ensuring the safe handling of artwork, during transit, from one Crozier facility to another. In addition, the candidate will be assisting with the loading and unloading of freight, ensuring the integrity of all artworks stays intact. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Handle and move artworks, including wrapping, packing, and crating using appropriate

  • Install/de-install artworks during onsite projects using proper techniques and tools

  • Load/unload trucks to ensure safe transit

  • Plan the organization and packing of trucks to ensure utmost safety of objects 

  • Conduct inspection reports for various types of art objects

  • Lead a team, providing guidance and coaching during projects

  • Act as liaison while onsite between clients and company management

  • Determine strategy for projects, particularly when senior staff are not onsite

  • Safely operate company vehicle; transport art to their destinations 

  • Perform all required truck inspections

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum: high school diploma. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred. 

  • 2 + years experience within the fine arts transportation or specialized removals industry

  • Industry-standard packing, crating, and installation techniques and materials

  • Experienced in operation of Gantry and Rigging equipment

  • Speak effectively to clients and coworkers

  • Strong attention to detail, discretion, and follow-through

  • Team player, with the ability to lead and effectively communicate instructions. Additionally, self-motivated and able to work well under pressure

  • Lift and move heavy objects (in excess of 75 lbs), bend, kneel, crouch, stand 

DRIVER QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to safely operate 26-ft box truck, at minimum

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Clean/Clear driving record with ability to pass all driving check

  • CDL license not required but preferred

  • Travel: Local = 95% Overnight = 5%

  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 5 PM
