WRI India is seeking a Program Manager – Economics of Climate and Green Growth to analyze economic pathways for India's Net Zero transition. The role involves developing approaches and deploying economic methods for low-carbon development, leading research, mentoring teams, translating research into publications, and engaging with stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have 7-10 years of experience in energy-economy modelling, climate policy, and economic analysis, with advanced proficiency in modelling tools like R, Python, STATA, GAMS, Vensim, or GIS software. The position offers a chance to work at the forefront of climate policy research and contribute to equitable, sustainable outcomes.
Must have:
  • 7-10 years of experience in energy-economy modelling, climate policy, economic analysis and research.
  • Proven track record of leading policy-driven research publications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in team management, project management, and stakeholder engagement.
Good to have:

The Climate, Economics, and Finance (CEF) Program leverages cutting-edge analysis, innovative tools, and real-world implementation to inform India’s low-carbon transition—one that is technologically viable, economically feasible, socially inclusive, and nature-positive.
Job Highlight:
As Program Manager – Economics of Climate and Green Growth, you will play a pivotal role in analysing economic pathways that can drive India's just, inclusive, and sustainable transition to Net Zero. We are looking for a critical thinker and problem-solver, passionate about leveraging quantitative methods and economic analyses to inform the future of people-centred climate action in India.
What you will do:
  • Solve Complex Problems: Develop new approaches and deploy economic methods to inform policies for low-carbon development pathways at national or subnational levels. Lead economic and policy analysis, and develop sectoral roadmaps and strategies.
  • Lead High-Impact Research: Drive data-driven insights based on rigorous research that can inform policies, business strategies, and interventions. Lead scenario development, sensitivity analysis, and economic assessments of low-carbon pathways. Ensure accuracy and attention to detail in data collection, model calibration, and policy impact assessments.
  • Mentor & Lead teams: Guide a team of bright, aspiring researchers and foster technical excellence and critical thinking.
  • Translate Research into Action: Produce publications, articles and blogs that translate complex research into clear insights and recommendations.
  • Engage with Stakeholders: Collaborate with policymakers, industry leaders, and experts to strengthen partnerships and scale impact.
What you will need:
  • 7-10 years of experience in energy-economy modelling, climate policy, economic analysis and research.
  • Advanced proficiency in modelling tools such as R, Python, STATA, GAMS, Vensim, or GIS software is desirable
  • Proven track record of leading policy-driven research publications and high-impact collaborations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills to convey insights to diverse audiences.
  • Experience in team management, project management, and stakeholder engagement.

Potential Salary & Benefits: INR 18,00,000- INR 24,00,000 
 
Salary shall be commensurate with experience and skills. WRI offers a generous and comprehensive benefits package.

Duration: 1 year (extendable based on performance & project needs)
