At TransUnion, the Credit Risk Solutions (CRS) team fosters trust by delivering comprehensive data and insights. As Senior Director, Alternative Data Solutions, you will manage TransUnion’s key alternative data assets, including the short-term lending data bureau and the verification of income and employment (VOIE) partnership. This role involves leading product management for FactorTrust, defining platform strategy, and managing product roadmaps. You will drive the commercial success of FactorTrust and VOIE solutions, requiring strong leadership and strategic partnership management to ensure market-leading products and contribute to TransUnion's growth in this market segment and beyond.
Must have:
  • Ensure commercial success of the short-term lending data portfolio and VOIE solutions.
  • Lead Product Management for FactorTrust and manage the Product Manager for VOIE solutions.
  • Create and manage the FactorTrust platform strategy, including backlog and support.
  • Define overall resource needs across solutions, technology, compliance, analytics, operations.
  • Develop, own, and execute FactorTrust product development roadmap.
  • Manage existing FactorTrust products, their efficacy, and revenue plans.
  • Direct a team of Product Managers to realize product vision.
  • Drive go-to-market activities for all short-term lending products.
  • Develop and own platform KPIs, customer feedback, and competitive landscape analysis.
  • Assess global opportunity for similar solutions across international regions.
  • Manage the VOIE strategic partnership, including development pipeline and sales alignment.
  • Work with VOIE TU Product Manager to strengthen and grow the partnership.
  • Work across US Markets to determine new markets, negotiate terms, and complete GTM.
  • Own the STL and VOIE product roadmaps based on market needs.
  • Manage strategic relationships with key industry partners.
  • Contribute to all phases of the product development lifecycle.
  • Work closely with Global Technology, Global Delivery, Data and Analytics, Financial Services, and Markets.
  • Gather intelligence on financial services and STL industry trends and regulations.
  • Partner with Solutions, Global Technology, Global Delivery, Data and Analytics, Financial Services on strategy.
  • Identify technical partnership needs and vendors for integrated solutions.
  • Build product and platform development roadmaps with stakeholders.
  • Contribute to 3YP strategic planning initiative for STL solutions.
  • Drive execution of overall business roadmap.
  • Design and develop test-and-learn pilot campaigns.

As Senior Director, Alternative Data Solutions, you will be responsible for product management of one of TransUnion’s most valuable alternative data assets, the short-term lending data bureau and our verification of income and employment (VOIE) partnership. With significant investment, both businesses are poised for growth with a broad set of products for both short-term lenders and TransUnion customers across Financial Services, Insurance and Diversified Markets.

What You'll Bring:

  • 12+ years of progressively more responsible experience in product or program management and P & L responsibility and ownership in either Financial Services or specifically the short-term lending industry
  • Must be a self-starter and capable of independent work with minimal guidance at times
  • Solid organizational, project management, problem solving and decision-making skills with a high degree of comfort managing multiple assignments
  • Strong product management discipline with demonstrated success leading cross-functional product teams
  • Strong collaborator with a problem-solving, design-thinking, customer-centric mind-set; highly curious
  • Exudes accountability and ownership and is passionate about the fundamental customer/consumer problem
  • Driven by intellectual curiosity and independent thinking with a positive “can do” attitude
  • Experience working within matrixed organizations
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree is a plus

We'd Love to See

Ensure commercial success of the short-term lending data portfolio of solutions and our verification of income and employment solutions by working in close partnership with Sales, Global Technology, Analytics, and other matrix partners

  • Lead Product Management (with the help of 2 FTEs) for FactorTrust while managing the Product Manager for VOIE solutions
  • Create and manage the FactorTrust platform strategy including the backlog management, ongoing platform support, and platform sunset strategies
  • Define the overall resource needs of the business across solutions, technology, compliance, analytics, and operations
  • Develop, own, and execute FactorTrust product development roadmap
  • Manage existing FactorTrust products, including in-market attributes and scores, their efficacy and revenue plans
  • Direct a team of Product Managers to realize your product vision
  • Drive go-to-market activities for all short-term lending products Develop and own platform KPIs, customer feedback, and the competitive landscape to identify gaps, weaknesses and opportunities in any part of product and platform delivery
  • Assess global opportunity to stand up similar solutions across international regions
  • Manage the VOIE strategic partnership including our development pipeline, add/subtract areas of focus across all US Markets, sales alignment, and go to market
  • Work with the VOIE TU Product Manager to strengthen and grow the partnership
  • Work across all US Markets to determine new markets to enter, negotiate terms, and complete GTM, incentive alignment and sales training

Impact You'll Make:

The Senior Director, Product Management is responsible for TransUnion’s Short-Term Lending (STL) products and Income partnership strategy, and requires exceptional leadership, product, and program management capabilities. This role will act as a general manager of the FactorTrust business, be accountable for the commercial success of FactorTrust and VOIE, and be responsible for the strategic, tactical, operational, and general oversight of FactorTrust. The Senior Director Product Management will help evolve fundamental capabilities to manage and create market leading STL and income products that will enable TransUnion’s growth within this market segment and beyond.

They will own the STL and VOIE product roadmaps, based on the market’s current and future needs, to fill in any capability and competitive gaps needed for success. They will also be responsible for managing strategic relationships with key industry partners that enable Credit Risk Solutions to fulfill its mission.

The Senior Director of Product Management will contribute to all phases of the product development lifecycle, from inception through introduction into the marketplace, working closely with FactorTrust focused colleagues, Product Development, Operations, cross-functional support, and other go-to-market teams.

As well, it will be important to work closely across a number of key stakeholders including, but not limited to, Global Technology, Global Delivery, Data and Analytics, Financial Services, and Markets.

Strategy

  • Gather intelligence on financial services and STL specific industry trends, regulatory changes and hurdles, disruptive innovations, and competitive offerings to validate and refine our product development roadmap
  • Partner closely with Solutions, Global Technology, Global Delivery, Data and Analytics, and Financial Services in defining, agreeing on and executing the overall product and business strategy

Planning

  • Identify technical partnership needs and vendors to deliver integrated point solutions
  • Build product and platform development roadmaps in partnership with Solutions, Global Technology, Global Delivery and Financial Services stakeholders
  • Contribute to 3YP strategic planning initiative for STL solutions

Execution

  • Drive execution of overall business roadmap
  • Design and develop test-and-learn pilot campaigns with other support functions and business partners to validate key hypotheses
