Job Details
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 6 years of interaction design experience in product design or UX design.
- Experience in Cloud Infrastructure, Cloud Computing, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), Enterprise applications, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML), or big data.
- Include a portfolio, website, or any other relevant link to your work in your resume (providing a viewable link or access instructions).
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience working collaboratively with and influencing other designers, product managers and engineers.
- Experience prototyping your own designs using Figma.
- Excellent attention to detail and visual design skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to listen, articulate positions, and advocate designs
- Excellent problem-solving and investigative thinking skills.

As an Interaction Designer, you’ll rely on user-centered design methods to craft industry-leading user experiences—from concept to execution. The Compute Engine UX team aims to enable people and organizations worldwide to set up, configure, and monitor virtual machines (VMs) running in Google's innovative data centers and worldwide fiber network.
The ML, Systems, & Cloud AI (MSCA) organization at Google designs, implements, and manages the hardware, software, machine learning, and systems infrastructure for all Google services (Search, YouTube, etc.) and Google Cloud. Our end users are Googlers, Cloud customers and the billions of people who use Google services around the world.
We prioritize security, efficiency, and reliability across everything we do - from developing our latest TPUs to running a global network, while driving towards shaping the future of hyperscale computing. Our global impact spans software and hardware, including Google Cloud’s Vertex AI, the leading AI platform for bringing Gemini models to enterprise customers.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $151,000-$222,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Work with and influence user researchers, product managers, engineers and others in the Cloud product area to create an user experience for enterprise and customer use cases to help drive impact across multiple compute engine focus areas.
- Understand and gain an understanding of Cloud technologies, user motivations, market opportunities, and competition.
- Recognize when the solution being proposed isn’t ideal, and challenges the approach with alternative solutions.
- Lead design direction and create storyboards, wireframes, fidelity designs, and interactive prototypes to guide design and development.
- Pitch and present concepts, proposals, and updates to executive stakeholders and translate complex concepts and interactions into simple, elegant, and coherent design.
