What you’ll be doing
This role is a people management position focused on engineering strategy and team performance as well as the growth of engineers. Your recurring tasks and responsibilities will include:
People Development: Attract, onboard, and retain diverse top talent. Develop people and the team through coaching, mentoring, and management support. Conduct regular 1:1s, goal setting, and feedback conversations with engineers and support them in their career path. Continuously work to improve inclusion and belonging
Business Value Delivery: Ensure incremental value delivery and high-quality standards for the team while supporting strategic work in collaboration with partners in Design, Product, and Data
Process and Collaboration: Maintain high levels of transparency and efficiency, with other development teams, product managers, and other stakeholders. You’ll also be involved in broader organizational development and cross-team initiatives with the rest of our engineering management team
Technical Enablement: Help grow the expertise of your team’s performance, reliability, resilience, scalability, maintainable architecture, and experimentation.
Who you are:
People Management: You have proven experience in a project management 3+ years in managing, mentoring, and training software engineers, including establishing teams and attracting top talent. Bonus points if you have done so in a fast-paced and growing startup environment.
Remote Work: We are a remote-first company and you should have some experience leading and motivating a distributed team.
Delivery: You do not “boil the ocean” but prefer to deliver solutions incrementally, perhaps with a little bit of experimentation and innovation along the way. You know the ins and outs of modern software engineering practices and how to apply them to drive effective, timely, high-quality delivery and achievement of your team’s goals. Experience with agile methodologies is an asset for this position.
