Job Summary

PeopleFun is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to play a pivotal role in the development of a new casual mobile game currently in pre-production. In this role, you will collaborate closely with a cross-functional team to prototype innovative game concepts. Your work will be crucial in building early-stage prototypes that validate the game’s viability and shape its future development. As the project progresses, you will transition with the team into full production, continuing to contribute your expertise throughout the game’s lifecycle. You will also work closely with our engineering leadership to ensure technical excellence and alignment with the project’s goals.

Responsibilities

    • Design and develop rapid prototypes of game concepts to validate ideas and gameplay mechanics.
    • Collaborate closely with game designers, artists, and engineers to iterate on game features and implement feedback quickly.
    • Implement core gameplay systems, tools, and pipelines that support efficient prototyping and production workflows.
    • Contribute to technical decision-making, ensuring prototypes are scalable and adaptable for future development and production phases.
    • Optimize game for performance and memory usage across a wide range of mobile devices.
    • Transition from pre-production into full production, adapting development practices as needed.
    • Work within an agile development environment, adapting to evolving requirements and priorities.

Requirements

    • 5+ years of professional engineering experience with the mobile gaming industry.
    • Demonstrated proficiency with Unity and/or other established game engines used in casual mobile game development.
    • Demonstrated experience in rapid prototyping and iterative development processes.
    • Solid understanding of game architecture, design patterns, and best practices for mobile platforms.
    • Prior experience collaborating cross-functionally, effectively communicating with designers, artists, game designers, product managers, and technical leadership.
    • Proven ability to navigate complex technical challenges.
    • Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts and tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
PeopleFun provides a competitive total compensation package with a pay for performance rewards approach. The expected base pay range for this [CA based or North America based] position is $105,000-$165,000. Base compensation at PeopleFun is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Depending on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical and other benefits.
