Job Description

As a Technical Program Manager at Google's Pixel Software team, you'll lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. Responsibilities include managing software projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams (hardware and software engineers), estimating work, defining milestones, managing resources, tracking progress, resolving dependencies, and communicating project status to upper management. You'll remove obstacles, manage escalations, and support teams balancing competing priorities. A strong understanding of technical implementation and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, from executives to junior staff, are crucial. You'll work with leads and partners to ensure software and roadmap feature alignment for current and future programs. The role requires experience in consumer electronics development, hardware/software/embedded software, and Android software development.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in technical field or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years project management experience
  • Cross-functional project management experience
  • Consumer electronics development experience
  • Android, Kernel drivers, and SDLC knowledge
Good to have:
  • Experience with software development, integration, and release management
  • Mobile/consumer product launch experience
  • Power, performance, thermal optimization experience
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience managing projects, key contributor to multiple projects, driving technically cross-functional projects across multiple organizations.
  • Experience working with consumer electronics development, hardware/software/embedded software and android software development.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience working with software development, integration and release management, and mobile/consumer product launches.
  • Experience working with engineering, non-engineering teams, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience with power, performance, thermal optimization.
  • Knowledge of Android, Kernel drivers, and software development life-cycles.
  • Ability to communicate and influence with multiple levels including executive leadership team, managers, and junior staff.

Responsibilities

  • Manage software projects, work with multiple teams on cross-functional initiatives, interface with engineering managers and engineers across both hardware and software to estimate work efforts, define milestones, and manage resources.
  • Track progress, resolve dependencies, evaluate risks, communicate status to upper management and project stakeholders, and engage/energize the project teams to achieve goals.
  • Remove obstacles to drive momentum and progress, identify communication gaps, manage issue escalations, and provide support to teams balancing competing priorities.
  • Understand technical implementation at the system/architecture level and propose technical alternatives when necessary, ask questions that clarify priorities, and develop broad domain and technical knowledge.
  • Work with leads and partners to ensure software and roadmap feature alignment for current and future programs.
