Job Description

This Technical Writer, Cloud Security role at Google Cloud involves planning, creating, and maintaining educational content for technical audiences. Responsibilities include writing technical documentation (overviews, how-to guides, user guides, API references), creating additional content (articles, images, white papers), organizing existing documentation, identifying gaps, and leading new projects. The ideal candidate will define documentation requirements with diverse teams, work with engineers to create and update documentation sets, and edit/enhance documents written by others. A minimum of 4 years of experience creating content for technical audiences is required. Experience in privacy and security engineering, especially encryption, and web writing experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript are preferred. The ability to understand source code (Java and Python) and work in a fast-paced environment is also beneficial.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
4+ years experience in technical writing
Create and maintain technical documentation
Collaborate with engineering teams
Excellent writing and communication skills

Good to have:

Experience in privacy and security engineering
Web writing experience (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
Source code understanding (Java, Python)

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.
4 years of experience creating content for technical audiences (e.g., developer documentation, Computer Science course material, or IT administration playbooks).

Preferred qualifications:

Experience in privacy and security engineering, especially encryption.
Experience in writing for the web.
Experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Ability to understand source code (e.g., Java and Python).
Ability to work in a paced and constantly changing environment.

Define documentation requirements with diverse teams, and work with engineers to create and update documentation sets.
Edit, clarify, and enhance documents written by engineers and others.
