Database Engineer

Job Description

The selected candidate will be responsible for providing 24x7 level-2 support for databases in a manufacturing environment. They will be required to work Compressed day and night shift at the Kulim site, on hybrid mode. The selected candidate will work with a global factory network across the Americas, Europe and Asia.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:1) Managing Oracle/MSSQL/DB2/PostgreSQL databases ensuring performance, reliability and resiliency2) Executing operational DBA duties in a large-scale, complex environment. These will include patching, environments cloning, database upgrades and application upgrades, implementing backup and monitoring procedures.3) Real time monitoring, crisis management, event/incident/problem/knowledge management.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field, with min 2 years working experience.Minimum qualifications include:1) Ability to function in a global 24x7 support environment, interacting with a large number of teams.2) Highly flexible, results-oriented and customer first mindset.3) Strong project management, verbal and written skills.4) Strong Analytical skills and ability to resolve complex technical issues in a high pressure environment.5) Understanding of Agile frameworks, ITIL6) Experience in Relational Database TechnologiesPreferred qualifications:1) Experience with Linux and Windows Operating Systems.2) Oracle RDBMS, Microsoft SQL Server, DB2 and PostgreSQL database administration.3) Scripting and analytics skills using common tools like PowerShell, Python, Power BI, Elastic Search4) Machine learning skills.Requirements listed would be obtained through a combination of industry relevant job experience, internship experiences and or schoolwork/classes/research.
