Your New Role

Inspired by the success of CrewHQ Leavesden in the UK, our new LA facility will be a multi-purpose skills training and community hub at the heart of Warner Bros. Studios Burbank, bringing together ‘all the good’ we do at WBD. CrewHQ Burbank brings us together to build career pathways for people of all backgrounds, serve our community and inspire the next generation of storytellers.

Grounded in the mission of Creating a Resilient Entertainment Workforce, the center will support four key pillars; production training and jobs for people of all backgrounds, investing in our people through learning, development and career opportunities, engaging and inspiring the next generation of storytellers, and serving the community and protecting our planet. 

The Director will lead strategy, stakeholder engagement, program delivery and day-to-day management of CrewHQ Burbank, our new flagship skills training and community center opening in the Fall of 2024.

As part of the launch, the Director will also design and implement the operating model, infrastructure and team to support deliver across the four pillars, working collaboratively with departments across the business.

The post is full-time, based at WB Studios Burbank, and may involve travel.

Your Role Accountabilities

  • Develop and maintain CrewHQ strategy, ensuring alignment with company and industry needs and objectives. This includes setting and communicating clear KPIs and delivery plans.
  • Build and manage the team responsible for program delivery across the four key pillars (Production Pathways, Workforce Development, Outreach and Education, Community Impact & Sustainability)
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key CrewHQ internal stakeholders, including Heads of Production Divisions, Production Executives, Studio Operations, Labor Relations, Production HR, Warner Bros. Studio Legal, Corporate Social Responsibility, Government Affairs, Corporate Strategy, People & Culture, Talent Acquisition, Learning and Development, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion teams.
  • Work with Studio Operations department heads and US-based WBD film and television productions - in close collaboration with Labor Relations, Production HR and other stakeholders - to assess training needs, union requirements and areas of opportunity to establish relevant training programs, apprenticeships and job placement initiatives.
  • Work with Studio Operations, L&D and P&C partners to identify key upskilling, management and leadership training, and career development initiatives that support workforce mobility and growth opportunities across both our permanent and contingent workforce.
  • Work with Government Affairs and external consultants to identify and maximize incentive opportunities tied to state and federal workforce training, DEI, social impact and sustainability initiatives.
  • Work with the WBD Corporate Social Responsibility and Public Affairs teams to design and deliver local and regional community impact programs, in partnership with non-profit and industry organizations (Burbank Community YMCA, Boys & Girls Club Of Burbank, Entertainment Equity Alliance, Roybal, Handy Foundation, Manifest Works, Bric Foundation, Hollywood CPR etc.)
  • Liaise with leads of existing WBD skills training, development and outreach programs – (i.e. , , Corporate Internships, StoryLab, Impact Day) across various departments (CSR, DEI and P&C) to ensure cohesion, collaboration and amplification.
  • Work with education partners including local schools, LA school districts, non-profit and the Dept of Education to help raise awareness of the breadth of careers that exist within the screen industry and the pathways and skillsets required to progress.
  • Manage and maintain the budget for CrewHQ Burbank.
  • Monitor delivery and impact of all plans ensuring feedback is collated and reported.
  • Produce regular reporting to CrewHQ advisory council and key stakeholders as required.
  • Partner with WBD Communications & Brand teams to develop case studies, videos and marketing materials, impact reports etc. to showcase CrewHQ Burbank and our commitment to skills training internally and externally.
  • Partner with WBSO Marketing leads and UK CrewHQ team to build a cohesive brand and narrative for CrewHQ worldwide
  • Lead Alumni strategy and tracking
  • Liaise with Production Legal and Business Affairs to ensure CrewHQ is represented in end credits for film/tv and other productions where programming has been supported
  • Proactively look for ways to enhance the services of CrewHQ and create a blueprint for expansion to additional locations and regions to meet business need

Qualifications & Experience

  • A strong understanding of production, corporate and studio operations, and processes within the US film & TV industry
  • Proven ability to design and deliver skills training / talent programs, training materials and workshops
  • Experience working on social impact, diversity, gender parity and inclusion initiatives and a strong understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion principles and practices
  • Proven ability to manage a team; coaching and mediation experience a plus
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary / multi stakeholder environment
  • A strong understanding of union protocols, pathways, and labor relations.
  • Experience working with external partner organizations (industry, community / non-profit, educational)
  • Excellent delivery, facilitation and communication skills
  • Strong relationships and reputation within the film & tv industry and within the government and non-profit sectors
  • Proficient in:
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Project management & collaboration tools (Airtable, Asana, Teams, Slack)
  • Vendor & AP Management software (SAP, Ariba, Concur) a plus
  • An inclusive, self-aware leader committed to building an equitable environment for all
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; confident communicating at all levels within the organization
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills

Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $90,720.00 - $168,480.00 salary per year.
