As a Hardware Electrical Engineer, you'll be shaping the future of hardware experiences for the Google Pixel Watch, delivering unparalleled performance, efficiency, and integration. You'll drive system electrical engineering design, work with cross-functional teams on design, prototyping, testing, and data acquisition, and contribute to bringing new products from concept to mass production. Your responsibilities will include evaluating and selecting components and technologies, designing and reviewing systems and sub-components, creating specifications and leading validation, and ensuring successful manufacturing through factory test requirements, software bring up, and on-site support.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics or equivalent
  • 2 years of experience in consumer electronics and embedded system design
  • Experience with lab equipment (digital multimeter, spectrum analyzer, etc.)
  • Prototype bring-up, debugging, and validation experience
  • Circuit board level design experience (chipset, memory, high-speed interface)
  • Experience with Cadence/Allegro and PCB/Flex technologies
Good to have:
  • 5 years of experience with system development in consumer electronics/embedded design
  • Experience with SOC/MCU, power, mixed circuits, sensor integration
  • System integration with software development (firmware through system level)
  • Experience with communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, USB, MIPI-DSI)
  • Standard Radio Frequency/Wi-Fi interfaces experience
  • Experience working with OEM/ODM/JDM/CM partners
  • Understanding of product development for mass-volume production

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience working in the consumer electronics industry, and embedded system design.
  • Experience with lab equipment: digital multimeter, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, oscilloscope, power supply, data logger, etc.
  • Experience with prototype bring-up, debugging, function and performance verification and validation, and manufacturing support.
  • Experience in circuit board level design engineering including chipset, memory, high speed interface, power supplies, Cadence/Allegro and PCB/Flex technologies.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience with system development in consumer electronics/embedded design.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: SOC/MCU, power (DC-DC converters, battery and power management), mixed circuits, sensor integration.
  • Experience with system integration with software development from firmware through system level.
  • Experience with various communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, USB, MIPI-DSI), standard Radio Frequency/Wi-Fi interfaces at chipset, baseband, and antenna integration levels.
  • Experience working with OEM/ODM/JDM/CM partners.
  • Understanding of product development process for mass-volume production design, with a focus on design for manufacturing and design for test.

The Google Pixel Watch team focuses on designing and delivering the world's most helpful experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global devices and create transformative experiences for users across the world. In this team, you will have the opportunity to work in a highly cross-functional role. You will be driving system electrical engineering design for Pixel watches. You'll work with multiple cross-functional teams to drive responsibilities related to design, prototyping, test, and data acquisition.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$178,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Work with internal teams to evaluate and select components and new technologies for next generation products based on product vision and end-user experiences.
  • Design, develop, and review systems and sub-components from concept to mass production. Perform detailed development to bring your design to mass production by setting factory test requirements, assisting in software bring up, and traveling on-site to the manufacturer to ensure the design is built and tested successfully.
  • Create system specifications and plan/lead validation of your designs. Lead complete functional verification, signal characterization, power modeling/test, and system coexistence testing.
  • Drive resolution of cross-functional issues including those related to architecture (performance, power consumption), production (quality, failure analysis, manufacturing), and development (schematic design and review, PCB layout, and system integration).
  • Work with suppliers/manufacturing partners to establish relationships for future product designs.
