Lead Engine Programmer

About the job

We’re looking for an experienced engine programmer to help us build the next generation of tools for both internal products, as well as tools for external content creators in the future.

We have an extremely exciting new product that we haven’t announced, that you’ll be leading. The tech you will own has been battle-tested and is extremely powerful.

You will be working on tooling for internal games as well as delightful and fun UGC creation tools. The ideal candidate for this role is comfortable working close to the metal and also dealing with ambiguity and shifting product priorities as we iterate and test new concepts.

You will be given a large degree of autonomy and responsibility – much of the success of the company will rest on your shoulders – therefore you should have experience with this kind of thing in the past – perhaps as a founder, founding engineer, or a solo dev that shipped something of significance.

Requirements

    • Tech: Expert low-level C/C++ experience, especially with larger codebases and writing multi-threaded programming and job systems
    • CPU optimization, profiling, and memory management
    • Full-Stack understanding of engine architecture, from rendering up to scripting layer
    • Demonstrable experience leading and inspiring technical teams to elevate everyone’s performance.
    • An intuitive sense of what makes a good product, proven by the products you’ve shipped in the past

Pluses

    • Graphics programming experience – both with shaders and renderers
    • Multiplayer programming and backend services
    • Building with LLM APIs

Why Work At Ramen VR?

Create the next reality
Every startup claims they are changing the world. How often do you find one that's building an entirely new reality? Also, we're such a small team, that you'll be working from and learning directly from the founders every day.

We Love Games
Have a favorite game coming out? Take a day off on launch day. We'll even buy you the deluxe version of the game. Play the game, and just do a short write-up to teach us what you learned. Join weekly game lunches where we bond and play games together as a team.

Company Retreats
Travel somewhere in the world with us, and live in a big house together for a week, all expenses paid. Spend time working, playing games, exploring a new country, and growing together.

Benefits
For full-time employees, we offer unlimited PTO, full coverage health insurance (for you and dependents) if you're based in the US, an annual health & wellness stipend for non-US based folks, annual tech stipends to use towards VR or equipment and more.
