About the job:
Google is seeking a Manufacturing Hardware Technical Lead to join its Manufacturing Operations team in Taipei, Taiwan. This individual will be responsible for leading the conception and implementation of custom test systems to support design validation and manufacturing tests across various product lines. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in board layout, high-speed signal integrity, power distribution techniques, validation, lab bring-up and debug, and experience in managing suppliers and partners. This role will also involve partnering with test engineering teams to productize test vehicles, working with Technical Program Managers to manage procurement, budget, schedule, and risk management, and participating in design validation, system integration activities, product bring-up, and validation during prototype builds.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent
  • 8 years of experience in technical lead, board & system manufacturing or program management
  • Experience in board layout, high-speed signal, signal integrity, power distribution techniques
  • Experience in managing suppliers and partners in implementing test hardware requirements
  • Experience with project management methodologies related to hardware product development
Good to have:
  • Experience in implementing or leading complex, transformational projects
  • Experience in bringing up or bench testing hardware in a lab environment
  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and software engineering principles from a systems integration point of view
  • Excellent leadership, investigative, quantitative reasoning, problem-solving, creativity, strategic, and Program Management skills

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or a relevant technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in a technical lead, board and system manufacturing, or program management role.
  • Experience in board layout, high speed signal, signal integrity, power distribution techniques, validation, lab bring up and debug.
  • Experience in managing suppliers and partners in implementing test hardware requirements for manufacturing testing.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with project management methodologies related to hardware product development.
  • Experience in implementing or leading complex, transformational projects resulting in improvement of test or manufacturing operations in the area of quality, cost, speed.
  • Experience in bring-up or bench testing hardware in a lab environment.
  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and software engineering principles from a systems integration point of view.
  • Excellent leadership, investigative, quantitative reasoning, problem-solving, creativity, strategic, and Program Management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the conception and implementation of custom test systems (interface cards, fixtures, racks, and more) to support design validation and manufacturing tests across various product lines.
  • Partner with test engineering teams to productize test vehicles to validate the latest technologies and other new technologies for New Product Introduction (NPI) products.
  • Partner with Technical Program Managers (TPM) to manage procurement, budget, schedule, risk management for custom test systems development projects and alignment with NPI program schedules, including Request for Proposal (RFP) process and selection of Joint Design Manufacturer (JDM) partner and technology suppliers.
  • Drive technical discussions and reviews, ensure manufacturability, cost optimization, guide technical tradeoff analysis and decision-making processes, and act as technical liaison between Google technical team and JDM partners.
  • Participate in design validation, system integration activities, product bring up, and validation during prototype builds.
