Research Intern - Database Internals (PostgreSQL)

Within Azure Data, the databases team builds and maintains Microsoft's operational Database systems. We store and manage data in a structured way to enable a multitude of applications across various industries. We are on a journey to enable developer friendly, mission-critical, AI enabled operational Databases across relational, non-relational and OSS offerings.​  

Microsoft Azure database platform is seeking Research Interns to join us in pushing the boundaries of our database platform performance by incorporating AI capabilities with large language models (LLMs) and Machine Learning. As a Research Intern, you will have the chance to work with leading researchers and PostgreSQL core committers group at Microsoft to create innovative solutions to challenging research problems in the above technical areas. You will also have the opportunity to publish your work at top conferences.    

Research Interns put inquiry and theory into practice. Alongside fellow doctoral candidates and some of the world’s best researchers, Research Interns learn, collaborate, and network for life. Research Interns not only advance their own careers, but they also contribute to exciting research and development strides. During the 12-week internship, Research Interns are paired with mentors and expected to collaborate with other Research Interns and researchers, present findings, and contribute to the vibrant life of the community. Research internships are available in all areas of research, and are offered year-round, though they typically begin in the summer.
